. Without your PSERS pension, you would need to invest at least 20% of your income into a 401(k)-type account every year until you retire (and earn 6% or more), to achieve roughly the same retirement benefit.

Need I say PSERS is too generous !!

The terms of negotiation should be transparent to taxpayers. Teacher union negotiations should be publicized.
Never happen in Pittsburgh ,Allentown or anywhere else in the state . The boards are stacked with retired teachers or school directors . Our taxes will be going up because of the contract meetings being held behind closed doors . Even if they pay a little more for medical and pension contributions they make up for it in pay . Everyone on the books for psers will be able to take all their contributions out at retirement plus interest .

We know what legislators get in pension but we don't know what teachers or other state workers pensions are ?

This is not what I thought transparency was all about ? Withdrawel of all your contributions is called your (buy a second home in Florida) plan and get away from the high taxes in this atate .

The proceeds from selling the state stores should go to rehab our roads and bridges. A disaster is imminent with our ancient bridges.

To retire early, get a pension as high or higher than your salary ,retire to a secon or full time home in Florida , on yours and my dime . All Pa taxpayers should have the same pension as psers and sers . After all , they work for us and get paid by us .

There is a whole lot wrong with this picture !

I may be a minority, but my school district would most likely take the block grants of 1 billion over for years from the sale of liquor stores.

We could use the money for Pre-K.

All unions can thrive if we work together in the progressive movement.

There is no way the Governor will grandfather our pension. We own the court system. They also have the same pension system. Our pensions make up for our meager salaries.

It is your entitlement mentality that is part of the problem.

grandfathering your pension .
There is no movement in the legislature to do it . If they ever try to do it , any changes would not affect themselves or anyone already in the pension system. Your pensions make up far and above any meager salaries your mindset tells you were always worth more than you ever were paid in salary or paid into your pension fund.
Double Inflation Rate

Fat cat pensions along with generous salaries have contributed to more tax grabs by PSEA.

Historically, prior to 1948 all public schools in Pennsylvania were funded directly by the state; the Public School Code of 1949 gave local school boards the ability to levy the local property tax without restriction. Since that time the property tax has increased at more than twice the rate of inflation and the total cost of Pennsylvania K-12 education has risen at an average 6% annually.
