When the casino finally open in Bethlehem the resident will feel something very similar to an earthquake.
Don't worry it will just be all the dead Moravian Settlers who founded Bethlehem on religion, named it after the birthplace of Christ, turning over in their graves with how low it's citizens stooped in desperation of of a new start. Don't you feel like you kind of turned to the devil..
Shame on you.
You sound pretty confident it will open . I'm not ,and the crowds will not be able to sustain the expense of operating.

I think the homework that was supposedly done by the best minds on the planet (Sands) was flawed Roger.

There is no way that NYC people are coming to Bethlehem to play slots, stay overnight, and shop. The faulty homework about the mall stores is a good example as the retailers never signed up for space even before the financial collapse.

While I do think that convention hall is a good thing, who fills the hotel rooms on the other 325 days when there are no conventions in town?

I'm with Watchdog.

Basically, this is all about the slots, the table games, and whatever else the casino owners might want in the future. Everything else is complete eyewash that was meant to make the idea of gambling seem more "socially responsible" or sustainable, or just plain nice.

If they had to tell local people that there would be a petting zoo with elephants in order to get the license, they would have said so. Only later would they announce that "its not economically viable" and all the local suckers would take the thumbs out of their mouths and nod in unison. Until told to stop. That the mall is not being built is absolutely no surprise to me or to anyone else that sees how these crooks operate.

Our local governments are now financially dependent on the success of this venture, which will ultimately mean the end of restraint, oversight, or common sense on this issue. After all, our school taxes might go up again if casinos don't get their way 100% of the time.

If journalists could actually see who does these "assessments"--90% of the time its people who are being paid by the vested interests. Sadly most journalists don't want to read anything other than press clippings, and its the same with local taxpayers.

Gravedigger: Go to pasands.com and get your name on the employment list. They will begin hiring in January. You will be contacted via e-mail to fill out an online application from which you will be called in for an interview at NCC in south Bethlehem.

And Maria, Jonesie has a job. He helps prepare Shaun Hannity for his Faux News show. ;-) But he means well and is a patriotic American to the core. We've yelled at each other your years, agreeing to disagree.

We've even met and talked on the phone Roger, quite a few years ago. Maybe there's a place for me at the Sands Roger, Security, driver, escort ?

I'll check it out after everyone takes a crack at it. Sean Hannity ,Laura Ingrahm , and Anne Coulter , the gang everyone likes to hate.

Fair and balanced

Beyond fair is Keith and Rachel, can't even bring myself to mention their last names. Cobra's don't have as much venom as these two spit out.

We'd never yell at each other face on Roger. At one time we collaberated on fixing and imoroving the SS. Times and things change but our relationship for Bethlehem hasn't.

See ya
