Ebay blocked 15,000 sellers from listing in the latest purge last week. Many honest decent sellers, mom and pops, fell victim to ebay's latest egregious action. Suzanne Wells broke the story at www, examiner.com and Ina Steiner did a great followup article at EcommerceBytes.com called Ebay Confirms Seller Crackdown

eBay Is a private business; if it follows federal and state laws regarding free commerce, you're blowing smoke! That they may be attempting to regulate small sellers doesn't disturb me; just because you're a small "mom & pop" seller doesn't necessarily mean your practices are honest. Tell me how this action enriches eBay at the expense of their clients? No detail here!

Ebay indeed does have to abide by state and federal laws and regulations. Many of their egregious actions have crossed the line. It's time the SEC and FTC investigated ebay.

Publicly owned corporations are not private companies. they are beholden to the stockholders and to the SEC.

There is growing public sentiment for an investigative journalist such as John Stossel or Morgan Spurlock to take a good look into ebay.

Ebay's tactics towards small sellers: In 2008 John Donahoe (CEO) made it clear he wanted to move away from a flea market operation to brand name big box retailers. With numerous policies that were enacted to eliminate small sellers (chief among these the flawed DSR system) he has been succeeding with a vengeance. 1) The DSR system adversely impacts small sellers more swiftly and egregiously then it does the favored big box and high volume retailers. 2) 15,000 small sellers were axed by ebay on August 6, 2013. 3) The automatic five-star DSR glitch/malfunction that ebay has admitted not fixing was responsible for at least some those purged getting purged because many were only out of compliance by one DSR star 3) The elimination of the policy compliance feature on the seller dashboard. If anybody thinks that was not purposefully done to hurt small sellers, I have some acreage on the moon I will sell you 4) ebay's latest user agreement update that goes into effect October 26 granting itself permission to hide sellers' listings. The majority of sellers on the ebay discussion boards think ebay has already been hiding sellers' listings 5) Ebay's numerous moves in past user agreement opt ins or opt outs to try to insulate or protect itself from class action lawsuits 6) this new managed returns issue (see new user agreement) 7) the fee hikes 8) the misuse/abuse of the DSR system to rob good decent sellers of TRS status and discounts they would get.

Ebay's second purge begain a few days ago. It's being called ebay Purge 2.0 by many. What are the actual RESULTS OF THESE PURGES OF SMALL SELLERS BY EBAY? First of all, they don't make ebay a better or safer place because too many good sellers get thrown out with those that may or may not be actually all that bad. Keep in mind many of those purged on August 6 were only out of compliance by one DSR star. Secondly, they are usually done abruptly and unexpectedly, basically blindsiding" the seller who gets suspended. Thirdly, they create a climate of fear among many small sellers "am I next?" Fourth, a climate of "what criteria is ebay using" is created so evertbody is wondering how and why ebay does the culls. Fifth, adverse publicity is created outside of ebay by those purged telling friends, family, coworkers, Ina writing articles about the purges, people blogging about the purges, YouTube videos about the purges, etc. None of that is beneficial to ebay. That being the case, it clearly means that those purged not only do not matter to ebay, but ebay is also not worried about the "publicity fallout" from the purges. That's the height of corporate hubris and arrogance.

The free market has but one "emotion," and that is GREED. The corporation is motivated exclusively by the acquisition of wealth. The power that naturally accrues to such a singular purpose, and it's subsequent free and unfettered use by business to augment the acquisition of wealth, is often misinterpreted as arrogance

Perfect sense! You have a man with bald tires selling copied videos and music all over! He is a danger on the roads and could care less about other mom and pop small businesses in the area. He could care less if his no tread tires on his white van bust and possible cause anyone injury. What if his tires on his white can bust and due to a crash a child or several people die?

He sells illegal copied videos and his vehicle shouldn't be on the road! I'm gal eBay is taking responsibility. Doing the right action regardless of regulation is the best action. I applaud eBay for ultimately protecting the consumer and all honest mom and pop business!

Videos and music CDs from these sellers aren't guaranteed either. The sellers aren't obligated to return your money. Buyers could be criminally charged for buying the illegal copied videos and music CDs.

Other honest businesses go out of business because of the illegal knock off or copied merchandise sold. This particular black man doesn't care for anyone else but himself.

His tires on his can are all bald and he isn't honest business. Honest Mom and pop businesses are losing money because these illegal sellers.

Anyone buying or supporting this style of business can be criminally charged.

Try to return your videos or copied CDs to these sellers. Will they give you a proper replacement of a working copy? It's illegal to sell knock off, unlicensed jerseys and sports memorabilia, copied movies and music CDs.

This Pittsburgh area seller is a black man with a white van. Sometimes he sets up a bubble blowing machine on the front of the truck engine.

Pittsburgh area.

Greed, arrogance or both its worse without a tread on the tires to others by the Pittsburgh area seller.

Would you mind terribly posting your creative writing class assignments on a Frisco area board! You're boring the heck out of everybody here with your wildly irrelevant rants crafted solely to boost your sorely flagging sense of self worth... which is asurprisingly accurate assessment, I might add

There's a great deal going on inside ebay that is of questionable legality. In the 10/26/13 User Agreement update, ebay granted itself permission to hide a seller's item listing from site visibility using unrevealed criteria (Ina Steiner wrote a great story on this one can Google). That's a violation of a seller's REASONABLE EXPECTATION. The reason a seller pleaces a listing on ebay is because they they have the reasonable expectation that it will actually be shown in order to sell it. Ebay is also engaging in TORTIOUS INTERFERENCE between the seller and his potential customer(buyer). Then there is the double-standard ebay uses in terms of the the DSR (Detailed Seller Ratings) system whereby small sellers are penalized, restricted or suspended over 2 or 3 low DSR ratings while the big box retailers and Chinese are immune from this. This is almost certainly a BREACH OF CONTRACT (assuming the constantly changing User Agreement can even be considered a contract). Then there are the seller purges whereby thousands of small sellers were suspended from ebay over the past weeks and months (many were only out of compliance by 1 DSR star, and ebay has admitted to a glitch/malfunction on the automatic five-star rating on shipping which has existed for a year and not been fixed- Ina Steiner did a good story here on this issue as well one can also Google). It just goes on and on. Where is Michael Moore or John Stossel? Where are the government regulatory agencies?
