First, where is the waste coming vrom? There is already a landfill in Fountain County, near Covington and it stinks to High Heaven in the hot summer months. If the residents don't want someone else's trash in the neighborhood, they should not be forced to have to do so.

I am a proud citizen of Fountain County, and attended the meeting. Thanks to all that support the "Stopping of this project". This projected landfill, would contain trash from out of state; destroy some 90 acres of good farm ground;flood our county roads with over 650 garbage trucks a day 24/7; leatch into drinking water; and no one in the county wants it here- forced on us !
Those that spoke provided IDEM with factual info supporting how this would destroy the county. STOP THE LANDFILL !

The name says it all - NJK "Farms"...wouldn't a more honest name be NJK Landfill, NJK Garbage...the list could go on.
The lawyers for NJK Farms seemed to think they could come in and paint a pretty picture for us and we'd welcome them with open arms. We don't want their trash. Never have, never will.

I drive a semi, and I see all along St. Rd. 41 & I 65 north of the landfill on rt. 114, trash all along side the roads from where it blows out of the trucks hauling it. plus the roads get tore up from all the extra traffic the landfill brings. I heard its going to be all out of state trash allowed in it any way. Let them deal with thereown trash and lets keep fountain county clean. NO LANDFILL

I also attended the meeting last night and was absolutely overwhelmed with a sense of pride for the people of Fountain Co. Factual evidence was presented that was so compelling, I cannot imagine how anyone could even contemplate allowing this landfill to be constructed. The traffic issues alone should have people in Parke, Montgomery, and Tippecanoe counties writing to IDEM daily. It was amazing to me how the NJK representatives used derogatory language in their presentation and just assumed that we are all a bunch of local yokels. Presenting legitimate concerns as "propaganda" and "myths" is insulting!

I just wanted to thank everyone who came to the meeting supporting Fountain County. I live about two miles away from the proposed site, and I really don't want to live the rest of my life looking at a mountain of trash, smelling the odor, or being worried about my water. My dream is to stay on the farm; I don't want some lawyer ruining my dreams. If they (NJK "farms") want to make a profit so bad why don't they put a landfill in their backyard if they say it's so safe? Wait maybe it's because it's not safe!

Fountain County people need to get ahold of the group that fought Allied waste to keep them out of Benton county.

I grew up in the area. i am 100% against the landfill. It will cause health concerns, and I enjoy going to Steam Corner. That will go away if the Stink Factory comes in, like it owns the land. The owners don't have to live by it like the citizens do. If they did, they would understand our anger. Keep up the good work, Fountian Co. NO LANDFILL!!!
