I find it apalling that the schools can't find ways to transport the children to school. Maybe a little less emphasis on sports and building new stadiums and soccer fields etc should be considered. Isn't school about educating the children. If money is an issue than extra curricular activities should be the way to go. I have taken my child out of public school because of the mismanagement of funds and the constant violence in the schools. We now use the K12 home schooling. Everything is supplied to the student free of charge and guess what, NO TRANSPORTATION ISSUES...... Think about it.

Home schooling is great in that you know what kind of education your child will recieve, but not everyone can do it. In todays economy usually both parents work, so not many have that option. One downfall is if the child is an only child then they are missing out on how to interact with other children.

Not saying home schooling is bad but for some people it is not an issue. One of my main problems with public schools where my son attends is that they only teach what is going to be on the achievement test, so we have him go to a tudor.

The great thing with K12 is that there is a growing network of adults using this accredited, state run program. Every county in the state currently has students enrolled. The younger children of course need more help and supervision, but the older children work independently. My child is 14 and I am a single parent, and it worked great for us last year. In fact, my child made the honor roll. As far as the interaction with other students, K12 has many meet and greets, and group events, then of course there is always church activities, outside sporting clubs, the ymca, etc. It was a lot easier that I ever thought possible. The curriculum is better that what my child was given in public school. K12/ Ohio Virtual Academy offers free seminars frequently to allow you to ask questions and look over the curriculum. Like I said, it's all free. They send everything including the computer, monitor, printer, textbooks, microscopes, etc straight to your home. They even help pay for internet. I hope you find what works for you and your family. This was truly a God send for mine.
I WISH YOU SUCCESS.

So perhaps you can answer a question. Is there still "forced bussing in Dayton"?

If so perhaps if this was ended and children attended the schools within their neighborhood Dayton City School's would NOT have to worry so much about bussing.

Just throwing out a question there not taking one side or the other.

So let's debate, or let it die, your choice.
