Sorry, read the ethics laws. Benfitting financially based on your elected position, no matter where the payments might come from, is more than likely an ethics violation.
And again, read the ethics laws - teachers, employees of governments, businesses, etc., are permitted to donate their money to any political candidate, PAC, etc., of their choosing. It is protected "speech" under the 1st Amendment last time I checked.
Then would "sheep" agree that school teachers who pay required union dues for union membership can also designate that their donation go to any political candidate, PAC, etc. of the individual teacher's choosing?
If so, then why are so many of our wonderful Springboro teachers complaining around town that the "collective" union bosses donate their money to the "political candidate, PAC, etc., of the union bosses' choosing? Isn't that unethical and a violation of protected "speech" under the lst Amendment?

Again...huh???? And if you read the posts - not making an accusation at all. Asking a question. Is Ms. Kohls being compensated for her traveling road show? If the answer is no, then great. Of course, no one will probably answer that. Just belittle, deflect...
Can you just cool it on your efforts to belittle Ms. Kohls in your pretense of being concerned about "ethics?"

Can you tell us if there is an "ethics" clause in the employment contracts of Springboro School Employees?

Can you tell us if school employee, Mr. Maney, violated any ethical clause of school employees when Mr. Maney urged that the Neighbors for Spriongboro Schools levy ladies "should be taken care of by the board" because of their hard work done for union agenda of promoting increased school taxes?

Can you tell us why the NFSS ladies (including Tammy Grigsby, Lisa Babb, and Tina Schroff) all received supplemental contracts at the school because of their work for the union on the levies campaigns?

Ethical behavior, it seems, is a "situational" thing in Springboro.

So is a private citizen engaged in their private lives. Last time I checked no one with business before the board of education that would benefit anyone financially was among the groups from around the state who wished to host Ms. Kohls and her message of transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.
Our sports coaches from your definition are most assuredly profiting from their position within the school hierarchy.
The donors whose businesses stood the most to gain financially from extra tax dollars are exempt, but a private citizen who has a message that others want to her must be silenced with innuendo for the union has decreed that her speech negatively influences their business model.
I don't believe anyone is coming to see Ms Kohls because she is a school board member in Springboro, OH. I would be surprised if most people from around the state where she has spoken even knew where Springboro was located.
Hard to trade on your elected position if no one knows where you come from or has any business in front of your board. How do you do that by the way?
Do you ever wonder what the pro levy crowd would have done with that extra $30,000,000 they wanted in extra taxes?
The $30,000,000 that they absolutely, positively had to have or the district would be bankrupt and in financial ruin.
Four years later and we now look as though we won't need another new levy for another four years.
Compare that with the folks in West Carrollton, Centerville, Beavercreek, Northmont, Huber Heights, etc, etc. How many would like to be in our shoes financially? All of them?
Do you think they would have spent it all and then demanded another levy by now to pay for their now bloated infrastructure?
No one is coming to see Ms. Kohls because she is a BOE member in Springboro? Why else would they be coming to see her?? That's exactly why they are coming to see her. That really doesn't even make sense.

And again, deflection...no answer to the question - is she getting compensated for her talks as an elected official? Again, if the answer is no - no harm, no foul.

You would have to ask the BOE that question. They approve all supplemental contracts.

To a rousing applause at a board meeting earlier this year Mr. Malone rather disingenuously proclaimed what a great job we doing because we had over 93% of our children pass the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT).

To accomplish this great feat of academia a student needed to score at least:

Reading..........41%

Math..........41%

Writing..........53%

Science..........46%

Social Studies.....45%

PROFCIENT = FAILURE

2000 plus kids in this district are not getting the education we are funding.

Why all the hints of something possibly being
"of harm and foul" on this public discussion blog, trying to stir
controversial issues, when even YOU don't know what you are talking about? Unless, of course, YOU are just another union wooly bully, sheepishly trying to pull the wool over eyes wide open to your OEA war of words, against an elected official that the union bullies are trying discredit.

The union may be well advised to negotiate thoughtfully and carefully in regards to healthcare.

If the taxpayers are going to be taking a large haircut on this healthcare deal, how likely do you think they are going to be in wanting to subsidize government employees health insurance costs?

Particularly when those government employees make more money per hour than they do.

I don't think anyone is coming to hear Ms. Kohls because she is a board member, but rather they are attracted to her message regarding transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility in our school system.

I don't know about you, but I can't name another board member on any other school district around here.

I take that back, I think that the teacher union lawyer, John Doll, is a board member for Centerville.
Talk about conflicts of interest and ethics, how do you negotiate with yourself in an honest fashion?

I wonder why Centerville is now having massive financial difficulties?

So they would come to listen to her because...she has a Phd in Nutrician? As you typically do, keep repeating your argument to yourself...it will sound true one of these days.

And as I would think Cenerville is set up...that he is one BOE member out of five? Boy, he must have a lot of power to do things all by himself. Kind of like our BOE, huh?

Keep deflecting as you acuse others of doing....still haven't answered the question of whether or not Ms. Kohls gets compensated for her talks.....I keep hearing these darn crickets......

Kind of adds a little more "credibility" to her talking because she is a member of the BOE, don't ya think? I guess her position doesn't really matter.....would ya run out to listen to her message if she were a baseball player? College student? Plumber? Yeah, I know - you certainly would.

Actually, I did listen to her message even before she was a board member. Obviously, lots of others were listening, too. Those who liked what they heard so much that they brought her message to my neighborhood were pretty excited about her "credibility" to serve on our school board, doing what's right for our school children and community! Although in 2009, I had never met her, I knew that her message was exactly what our school district needed; and that's why I voted for her. I like the direction in which she is leading our school district, and I like her! I will certainly be voting ONLY for those running for school board member this November, who are committed to ensuring a quality classroom education for our school children while living within our children first budgeting means.
