Our best score was 1 child in 7 could write at a C grade level or better, 14% of that class.

Our steady decline down to 1 child in 50 who can write at a C grade level or better, 2% of that class, is simply unacceptable.

Viewing these statistics makes me wonder what Mr. Malone is doing to his course of studies to address this massive failure of our system. This failure in the ability of our students to write coherently has been documented each year since 2005.

When the opportunity arose to come up with new classes for children last January, Mr. Malone opted for a guitar class and a current events class.

How do we look our children in the face and tell them we are preparing them for college if we accept such results year after year and do nothing.

See where we are in relation to Waynesville and Lebanon
However our "gifted student population is vastly higher than these schools.
Mirror, Mirror on the newsroom wall,
Who is the proudest of Boro all...

Why are Springboro school admnistrators and Springboro Education Association constantly proudly shoving into the faces of school districts voters "how great our Springboro teachers are?"
Why are school district voters constantly "threatened" with departure of "Springboro's Best" if voters don't wake up and fall down in worship of the union masters"

Just how proud of themselves are our Springboro Education Association members who have "taught" our Springboro public schools to be "proud" that Springboro Schools are rated #110 among Ohio's public schools?

Where's the Boro Pride in being #110?

OK I really don't understand. WE are excellent with Distinction. We meet State standards and only 50% of the schools in this State are rated this high or Excellent.
Pleeese don't tell me the State standards are lower than a snake belly.

Facts vs Opinion wrote:

With all due respect to your own opinion, the facts prove there is no conflict of interest, regardless of differing personal opinions. Those among Springboro voters spreading lies about school board member's conflict of interest are long time political opponents and mean-spirited critics of a well-respected Springboro parent and elected BOE official, David Petroni.
.....from article Springboro School board pursues charter school www.daytondailynews.com
Petroni, who lists charter school facility finance and development services among his specialties on his real estate business profile, said there is no conflict with his two roles.
“I’m not making a dime on this,” Petroni said.“The board will make the decision moving forward.”
He said the Concord Twp.-based Callender Group, which Petroni has worked with on non-charter school issues, was brought in because they are experts on charter school law, state financial formulas and the like.
Jamie Callender, founder and managing partner of the consulting group, said he also did not see a conflict.
“What (Petroni) does is real estate related and facilities financing, and in the conversion school model there wouldn’t be any connection because there is no real estate acquisition to create a conflict of interest,” Callender said.
Callender added that his job is to look at the possibilities specific to Springboro, from a neutral position, and see if the concept makes sense academically and financially.
“It’s not for every district, and we have to take an honest look,” he said.

People need to begin to realize exactly how exceptional the teachers of Springboro are and what will hap¬pen if we don’t begin to show you the appreciation and support you deserve. You are what makes our community strong. It’s time we recognize and rally to show our sup¬port. I know I am not alone in my views, and in fact I believe that most people in this community know how excel¬lent you are. We need to speak up and stand proud before it’s too late. Thank you for commenting and for caring about our children and their future.

Wow does this sound exactly like a progressive, shamelessly telling a public worker that they save us, we would be nothing without them, if it weren't for them we would all be stupid. What do we owe them for doing their job? Let's see, a pay check? Remember these public workers are not volunteers they are workers that get paid.
After all Mr. Bowman, teachers, police and fire chose to do what they do and all of them do it for a pay check. No one forces them to do what they do and by the way, I understand that in 2012 neither Police or Fire or teachers are on the top ten most dangerous jobs list. I tell you if it weren't for the most dangerous job, Farmers, we would starve-wow, we need to pay them more. OOPS no we don't if they don't want to do it they can quit. Maybe become a teacher, fireman, or police officer.
Maybe this is why Townships rule.

Is it a conflict that Ira Thompson got $2,000 put in his HSA with taxpayer money, he only paid it back when someone told on him.
Is it a conflict when board members Colston, Thompson and Miller get $100 greens fees paid by the taxpayers, once made public they paid it back? These are the people that told us that what they were doing was for the kids yet what I have listed here is not a conflict of interest it is illegal.
Investigating opportunities for children specifically to improve quality of education is for the kids and not a conflict unless you are a union person and afraid.
Or one previous board member who was making decisions with members of his family on staff?

I just asked a question.

You people are very defensive, almost like there is something to hide. This Blog board seems to be very Jim Jones like......KOOLAID ANYONE??

"If you don't agree you must be wrong" seems to be the norm here. Good luck with your school project. I'm sure you fine people with all the answers will solve all the problems.

Anyone on your school board have any skeletons in the closet??? We will see very soon. Watch the Dayton Daily over the next couple of weeks as it ought to be very interesting reading. To be continued

You have thus far failed to refute or for that matter make any point about anything.

Your veiled references to reprisals fails to advance the education of our children one solitary point.

How is threatening people helping our children learn to write?

98% score BELOW 73% in writing in the last Ohio Graduation Test from spring 2012.

Those children are now just days shy of becoming second semester juniors, what is being done on their behalf to rectify this egregious situation?

Aside from casting veiled threats, aspersions, and mendacities, what solutions do you propose?

98% of the Class of 2014 eagerly await your response.

Now is the time for all common sense conservatives to come to the aid of our conservative values; and step up in support of investing our school tax dollars to greater achievements in our children's future education.

On January 10 at public school board meeting, Don Miller, Lisa Babb, Tina Schrof, David Bowman (among others) are all set to start 2013 with the same status quo agenda of "politics of undermining" and protesting against our "students best interest FIRST" leadership agenda of our BOE majority.

You will remember that throughout 2012 our school district residents were bombarded with one "Save Our SEA" rally after another... through our hallways and classrooms, into our homes, churches and city parks .... came the cry of protest against using our school tax dollars to budget for our childrens classroom needs FIRST,(instead of putting the "Save Our SEA" financial greedy self-interest of increased salaries and benefits for the teachers union FIRST in our school budget).

You will remember the rallying opposition to our school board's Budget and Finance Committee reviewing our students "pay to play" fees and getting it right, which resulted in a significant savings to parents; and you will remember that Booster Board officer Tiffany Carlisle was among those who publicly critized the school board members who voted to reduce the fees for parents.
You will remember another Booster parent who objected to our sports coaches being held accountable to existing school board by-laws and policies by stating in public meeting that he had no problem with transparency but believed that the individual coaches should spend our kids money the way coaches see fit.

Now we have a group of protesters rallying against investing a few thousand dollars in our children's future that would bring returns of Greater Achievements in educating our students in the 21st century. Since our school district can well afford this greater achievement in our children's future education, WHY are parents like David Bowman, Lisa Babb, and Springboro teacher Tina Schrof actively undermining the school boards efforts toward greater achievements in education for our students?

It does appear, based on what is read in the news and emails that are being sent to community members by Lisa Babb and Tina Schrof,
that supporters of "Save Our SEA" are spreading lies and instilling fear in parents that this investment of conversion schools for greater achievements in our children's future will
take MONEY away from the Springboro Education Association members and for that reason our school district leadership should stick to status quo, resting on our laurels that we ARE a school district who HAS BEEN excellent with distinction...

Now it appears on January 10 that our "Save Our SEA" protesters against Greater Achievements for our children's future will be "making the case" to the public once more to "rest on our laurels" with the same old tired status quo mantra of those fearful union-minded ones: "Why trouble ourselves with great challenges; our teachers are the greatest, they can do all things to meet all unmet needs of each unique and creative child in the classroom; why not just huddle together and have a nice day while our students graduate excellently with distinction .... and head of to remedial classes on the college campus of their choice?"

And the common sense answer?
Now is the time to over-rule this domination of fear being spread around that our school kids will lose our best teachers because our union masters are going to miss out on a dollar, IF our school tax dollars are invested in the best interest of our children's best opportunity for greater "individual" achievement.

Student Recruitment, Retention and Enrollment
THE “STREET TEAM” APPROACH
Creation and organization of a “street team” comprised of motivated individuals, personally supervised by professionals experienced in door-to-door campaigning who would promote the schools in a door-to-door campaign in “target neighborhoods” which have significant populations where potential students are likely to be found. The “target neighborhoods” would be selected using techniques similar to those used to select “target precincts” in a political campaign. The “street team” would also be responsible for engaging churches, community activists, and neighborhood organizations in the “target neighborhoods” into the campaign. In addition to being organized and coordinated, the “street team” would be provided with promotional items, both as part of the door to door campaign and for distribution in libraries, retail organizations, businesses, churches and other appropriate public buildings and locations. Our overall plan would be designed to employ both guerilla and conventional marketing.

These are the “OBJECTIVE,”“EDUCATION” professionals we need in Springboro to STUDY our schools? REALLY?
These are “the best tools available in assessing whether a conversion community school aligns with your mission and vision.” REALLY?
These are lawyers from Columbus and Cleveland and are SELF IDENTIFIED lobbyists for charter schools; we’re paying for them to study SPRINGBORO schools and make recommendations on the need for ……? What problem are we trying to solve?
Springboro need to spend $5000 on this? Below is the proposal on which we base a $5000 investment? Say it isn’t true?
1. Financial Model and Feasibility
Build an actual financial model using the district and the state’s current funding
allocations showing real revenues and expenditures for projected enrollments. This model and feasibility study will serve as the foundation for the rest of the project.

Doesn’t the Springboro BOE know what our projected revenues, expenditures and enrollments are? Talk about wasting taxpayer $!!!!

Guess again.
Accelerated in these subjects mean:
Reading 64%-78%
Math 61%-74%
Writing 72%-86%
Science 61%-72%
Social Studies 66%-75%
D to low C student, with the exception of writing.
I wonder why they are taking remedial classes in college?

In perfect harmony with the Springboro Education Association's false claims of school district Wasteful Spending;
Wouldn't you know that the school superintendent would "supplement" the SEA opposition with an email to the community lobbying "for the little children" to benefit from spending a full day of kindergarten gathered around the SEA masters of indoctrination. A meeting will most likely be held soon to look at how the district could fund all day kindergarten.
How transparent is this attempt of Mr. Petrey to drag up board member Don Miller's tired old "million dollar a year" all day kindergarten expense in efforts to emotinally manipulate more money out of school district homeowners to add to the payrolls of additional SEA members to staff an unnecessary all day kindergarten program (btw- school district taxpayers voted down paying for all day kindergarten before Mr. Petrey came on board)

OK - let's talk about wasting spending of taxpayer dollars?

What about all of our school tax dollars that go into the big fat union dues of Springboro Education Association; and then our school tax dollars are used to pay lobbyists across the nation to lobby for the union self-interest. What wasteful spending of our school tax dollars.
What wasteful spending of our school tax dollars for the Ohio Education Association to take $50,000 out of our childrens classrooms and send it to "lobby" union self interests in the state of Wisconsin.
