I am in my first pregnancy. I am 5 months along.. I just moved back to Ohio and I found a MD that I was going to that was prescribing me the pain meds that ive been on for 7 years due to a serious car injury. The MD could only write my meds for 4 months before referring me to Pain Management. I received my insurance in the mail and I made a apt to see a OB to get the prenatal care and pain management care all in one. When I went to my apt they said they felt it wasn't safe for me to continue my meds, even though I had given 10 tubes of blood and my baby is perfectly healthy and no problems what so ever.. I have been on a low dose of oxycodone 7.5/325mg since my pregnancy started and 7 years prior which is a cut down of the 15 mg that I was on. I tried to explain to the doctor that i had several opinions about this from other doctors and they said it wasn't safe to be cut off medicine like that and that i was on a low enough dose to not cause serious complications. That being cut off would cause more issues than it would to take the medicine because my blood pressure would drop and other things. However, the doctor sat right in front of me and told me he wasn't going to write them for me, which i feel is not a good doctor because he didn't offer anything to help me but cut me off cold turkey. I know there is other alternatives or other options. I have 4 herniated disks and scolosis and i am in ALOT of pain and sick from not having my meds.. I really need some advice from moms or other pregnant women out there that can refer me to a doctor in the Dayton area that understands this issue or what to do. -PLEASE HELP

Maybe you can go to the webmd website, and then go to the "Pregnancy Community". I believe there are resources on there where you can find your answers, and maybe even find a doctor. I sure wish you luck, and happiness with your new baby! You might also call Planned Parenthood in the Dayton area, and see if they can advise you on where to find a doctor, or call the physician referrel service for the hospital you'll be giving birth at, and explain the situation and see if they can help.:)
