I will henseforth put everything on this one - that is, if it stays!

I guess that I am kind of European in my thought processes.

Two American presidents have recently won the Nobel Peace Prize, and I very much like them both: Carter and Obama!

I know that most of the people on this board will disagree with this assesswment, but sometimes the majority is INCORRECT!

Why do you hate the poor class so much? What exactly is the current unemployment rate and what has this President done to raise it?

Saving the environment is good item to concentrate on but when you are killing actual individuals to accomplish that goal then you become a Ted Turner ie a wack job. None of the poor and depressed can afford the green ideas that you and what you think this President believes in.

Doc, I understand you are old. You are set in your retirement but there are others that are struggling right now and trying to make ends meet. It's time to roll up our sleeves and end the politics that this President enjoys. The problems need to be fixed. Millions of Americans are hungry and struggling. It's time to fix this mess and end the politics.

Stop being so shelfish and start the process of healing. Green energy is a no show right now. The main concern is getting Americans back to work and paying for their next meal.

The Pope said recently that if there are other "beings out there," that they believe in God and Jesus Christ as well.

The Hubble telescope has photographed about 5% of just our universe alone - there are hundreds of billions of universes all starting with the "Big Bang" - and Hubble has found about 50 stars with earth like planets about our distance from our Sun.

(There are hundreds of billions of stars in our universe alone!)

Moreover, the universe is filled with ice crystals, making "life" a very real possibility!

According to several programs on the History Channel, the pyramids have many tunnels in them, but there is no smoke on the ceilings of them, either, but obviously the people (or beings)traversing these tunnels needed light.

Recently discovered in south east Turkey is an underground cavern with very many rooms.

It is over 500 feet underground, but has no smoke on the ceiling either, and carbon dating puts the underground "city," if you will, at over 400 thousand years old - much, much longer than anthropoligists believe modern man has existed.

Gets you thinking doesn't it?!

I find it rather curious that South Carolina was the very first state to secede from the Union beginning in 1860, but South Carolina is now one of the premire states of the Republican Party, the first President of which was Abrabam Lincoln!!!

Can one of you "Conservatives" explain this paradox to me?

"We" really can't as it's not a paradox. Since your logic is flawed at the outset it shows your historical knowledge is below par. So,there really isn't much chance you'll be able to grasp anything I could try to teach you. I blame the public schools not you; you should find a American history book written prior to 1984 and study for a year or so, then you should be able to answer your question.

Well cuda, it really IS a paradox, and it really started during Nixon's Southern Stratage of the late 1960's and the early 70's.

However, I wanted a know-it-all conservative like you to answer the question, as you DID NOT!

Ding-bat!

Doc, cuda is correct. It's only a paradox in your own mind.

Please, do tell, why you are keep bringing this connection between South Carolina and Republicans up month after month?

Examples of change is everywhere. Truman was born to a family of former slave owners and to a mother that was a racist and hater of Lincoln. Truman went on to be the first President to equate Civil Rights as a moral issue.

BTW....why didn't you answer my question. Why do you hate the poor so much in demanding change from our current energy system to a more expensive one. You do know that the poor can not afford to purchase the expensive hybrids and solar technology?

The economic state of the American economy is pretty much totally controlled by the Federal Reserve Board.

The Chairman of the Board, was one of 12 members of the Federal Open Market Committee of the Federal Reserve Board.

Raising or lowering the interest rates of the Federal Reserve - what the many banks have to pay for the money they lend to you - however, is by vote of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve Board. These 7 members who make up the Board of Governors, though, they are selected from the 12 members of the Federal Open Market Committee of the Federal Reserve Board.

The Legislative and Executive branches of the federal government have no way of removing a member once they are confirmed by the Senate of the United States.

Most Americans - and the Americanm press - think that it is the President and/or the Congress which control such things as recession, inflation, depression, high unemployment; but it is the Federal Reserve Board which hold the real power over the American economy.

It is set up such that it is almost totally UNDEMOCRATIC!

Boy, the Republicans in the House of Representatives have dug themselves a HUGE hole, and to make matters worse, they are still digging and digging!

Love it!!!

By the way doc, from this view point, it is the President that keeps digging! Obama's desperate attempt to scare granny is an act by a politician that has been marginalized.

Americans support debt reform and controlled spending. The Democrats and the President just don't get it.

The President will have a hard time explaining this when it comes to election. So Carter like.

Would love to see Bachmann win the Republican Presidential nomination. Maybe she and Palin would make a wonderful ticket for president and vice president --- that is, for a Democratis landslide!!!

That may be the only way to beat the Republicans this next election. But I wouldn't gurantee it.

I'm pretty sure that everyone will be running for the exits after the current White House comic duo, Howdie Doody and Clarabell, are finished with their act.

What's funny is that Obama himself is setting the nation up for a Republican landslide. The Prez just can't figure out that people have figured out what type of leader he is (terrible) and won't vote for him again. Unfortunately, he's destroying the country while showing us that.

Before the middle 1970's, the United States had the very finest educational system and products in the entire world.

Today, in the U.S., instead of finding foreign exchange student from foreign countries like England, France, and Germany, we find them from 3rd or 4th rate nations instead.

Since about 1970, the United States has fallen steadily from being first in the world in terms of its eduational excellence, to being somewhere in the upper teens today.

But does this really matter?

Thomas Jefferson, as he opened the University of Virgina around the early 1800's, is quoted as saying that "there is nothing more important to a DEMOCRACY than the quality of its educational system."

What is the Congress of the United States doing today to improve our educational quality to where it was in the late 1960's and early 70's???

I think they have done enough in establishing the Dept. of Education in 1979. Things went down hill from there.

The Department of Education was created out of the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in the VERY EARLY 1970's, under then President Nixon. You're wrong again George!!!

Moreover, you have shown ABSOLUTELY NOTHING which would indicate that the Federal Government is even partially at fault! George, GET SOME HELP!!!

DRJED stated, "What is the Congress of the United States doing today to improve our educational quality to where it was in the late 1960's and early 70's???"

--

Correct me if I am wrong, Doc, but you were blaming the federal government by your own question.

Heck, I don't even have to bring up, but I will, that you stated the decline started in mid-1970s....just to remind you what you stated...

DrJED stated, "Before the middle 1970's, the United States had the very finest educational system and products in the entire world."

Now, Doc, what happened during that period and now? The Department of Education was established by President Carter on October 17, 1979, not Nixon. Could this just be a coincidence that the decline happened around the same time the Dept. of Education was established? I donít think so.

Besides what is the federal government doing in the education business? It is a states job to educate their youths not the Feds.
