Iím 66 years old, and in my lifetime I have come to believe that the United States is solely a two-political-party country: the Democrats and the Republicans.
There were supposedly other political parties at times, but they never amounted to very much; they may even have carried a very few states at time they existed, but they were regional, not national, like the American Party was in 1968.
Real American history tells a very different story, however. Todayís Republican Partyís very first President was Abraham Lincoln in 1860, and todayís Democratic Party didnít become a reality until the union movement of the very late 1800ís and early 1900ís.
In fact, when this county was first founded with its new Constitution in the 1780ís, there were just two political parties: the Republican Party with Thomas Jefferson (A very different Republican Party than the one we have today, however.), and a Federalist Party with John Adams.
Some historians think today, that George Washington was a compromise first President of the new United States at that time.
Today, though, there may be the emergence of a new long lasting political party, and the demise of one of the traditional parties which has been in existence for 150+ years: the Republican Party.
The traditional Republican Party appears to be splitting into two political parties: the ďRegularĒ Republicans as they were know in the past, and the TEA Party Republicans; while the Democratic Party still represents, basically, Big Labor.
However, with the emergence of the Internet allowing for massive personal - and free - worldwide communication, and with the almost total lack of response to the average American middle class individual, the Democratic Party is not faring very well either; and with the very rapidly growing political strength of the OCCUPY MOVEMENT all across this nation, as well as around the rest of the world, things may well be about to change!
ALL THEY NEED IS A POLITICAL PARTY WHICH ADVOCATES THE OCCUPY MOVEMENTíS NEEDS AND GOALS!
And today there is such a political party, and it is worldwide in scope: it is the GREEN PARTY!
While the American Green Party in American has the Occupy Movementís goals in mind - but in a different order of priorities - they have them none the less; and they can change the order of these priorities to meet the many goals and needs of the American Occupy Groups!
I think the time has definitely come for the Green Party people to address this with the Occupy groups!
How about you?!
