It will stay in place until a significant amount of rain has fallen on the county, and there are no exceptions to the ban, not even the state Forestry Commission, certified burn managers, commercial contractors or anyone in need of an agriculture field burn.

The last measurable rain the county received was three weeks ago and it was not enough to relieve dry conditions, County Fire District Manager Ray Watson told supervisors. The area is between 15 and 20 inches behind in normal rainfall for this time of the year, Watson said.
