Apparently you like having your car demolished by these big beasts. Or maybe you enjoy putting out a garden every year for it to end up as deer feed. I am not a hunter, but I appreciate the population control.

The deer was killed about a mo. ago in the L.C. WMA. The guy just found it a week or so ago. He is from Ohio. It has been green scored at 211" gross typical. Should come in net about 20" less than that after drying and deductions. So 190-195 class deer. That should be good enough for the top bow kill typical in the state. The fact that it came from public land and will make Boone and Crockett is the real story though

My brother and I have been going down to the lewis co. wma for about 3 weeks now, the first evening we where there we seen 2 doe about a 120 yards from us to our right, we called and called but could not get them to come closer, but about 10 or 15 minutes after we seen a nice sized 4 0r 6 point buck came in about 80 yards to our left with a doe in toe. we got him to come to within about 25 to 30 yards of us. he was staring us down big time, so I grabbed my bow and had to hold it forever out in front of me to keep from spooking him. when he would drop his head and eat I would bring my bow up closer to me. it took several minutes just to get to where I could draw back to try for a shot. by the time I did get to draw, my arm got heavy and couldn't get the bow drawn back, I looked at my brother and said, I can't pull the damn thing back. but then I said hell with it, looked at the buck, seen he wasn't looking at me, gave it hell and pulled it back, got my pin on him, waited about 2 or 3 seconds and triggered my release. that son of a bitching buck jumped my string and my arrow went about 2 inches under his chest and into the ground and him and that doe was gone. I cussed like a sailor under my breath of coarse. If I would have not hesitated that 2 to 3 seconds I would've got him, the other 2 doe just stayed right where they where and about 5 minutes later they left the area so we packed up and left. a couple days later we where in the same spot and 2 doe came in about where the doe and buck was before, and I'll be damned if the same thing didn't happen to my brother that happened to me before with the buck. after that we where there a few days later seen 2 doe run out of a field as we where leaving to go home. a couple of deer where in a field as we where driving out the last 2 times my brother went down by himself, and tonight we went, didn't see anything at all the whole time. we know the deer are there in the area, just not having very good luck yet baggin and taggin any. not tonight but there has been a dog in the wma running around, we think maybe it has been keeping the deer out some. but we do like the area and plan on making it a regular hunting spot from now on. our luck is bound to change sooner or later. I hope.
