I've drove twice while high on weed. My only issue was being thirsty as hell driving to my destination. That sucked ass!

fista, that's just propaganda... just because you're old(er) and watched 'reefer madness' and believe it to be true, does not mean that intelligent people who smoke, will suddenly become stupid...i've known intellectual stoners and complete and utter moron stoners...marijuana had nothing to do with their intelligence levels.
although, i do wish that the part in 'reefer madness' was true that if i became stoned, i'd be able to play the piano really, really fast...lol.

you must always remember the road supplies: a lighter, a beverage (or 2), and some snacks. someone told me once, don't know if this is true or not, nor have i bothered looking up any actual facts to this statement, that if you eat sugary snacks such as chocolate it will decrease your high...anyone else ever heard that? because if that were true wouldn't special brownies cancel themselves out? lol

Actually, you're only partially correct about intelligence and smoking marijuana. In terms of permanent damage to the brain, there is none, but the after effects of smoking pot last as long as a few weeks and do actually impair intelligence until the substance works its way out of the body. Other drugs cause permanent damage, such as cocaine/crack, meth, and Heroin, and even alcohol.

A moderately stoned driver is actually a safer driver, but as with alcohol, responses are lagged. As for use of it myself, my last time was in May of 2003 for a few weeks, and then 20 years earlier for a couple weeks. I personally see that substance as safer than alcohol and useful in many industrial and medical applications but the impairment in cognitive functions is the only deterrent I need, personally.

Soviet spies.. That's so 1960. As for intelligence studies, it actually does lower the IQ for up to a few weeks after the last usage. That the effects are not permanent should be encouraging.

I smoked it heavily in my mid-teens. In all 3 periods of usage, there was a period for about 3 weeks that I felt noticeably less intelligent and while using really didn't have much motivation. Whatever the permanent effects, it didn't stop me from blazing through a 7 month full time trade school for electronics in 4. My grades in high school dropped from respectableto a perfect straight F's while I was using. In adulthood, I just didn't find it an attractive substance long term.

"
Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the world, according to NIDA, and causes short-term effects such as euphoria, distorted perceptions, memory impairment, and difficulty thinking and solving problems.
"
It also makes sense that since you can test positive for marijuana weeks after usage, that it's effects are considerably longer lasting than a beer, although not as acute as the first few hours. In terms of my last period of usage, I was non-functional for troubleshooting and stretched the truth a bit on one tech support call... "Something's come up. I'm going to have to get back to this in about 4 hours."

who are you referring to? because no one here is spamming like you do, ya little freak copy & paster. take your meds, stfu, and get laid already. you of all posters should not be trying to tell anyone to shut up. the adults are trying to have a conversation here, so you go play and spam other threads with your pasted news stories from a decade ago. lol, loser...

Whenever I smoked I tested clean 3 days later. I had no problem solving problems or thinking, my grades stayed the same. I wasn't a heavy smoker but when I smoked, I smoked a lot. I was just relaxed. I'd rather smoke weed daily than pick up any alcohol.

Believe it or not, I was stone sober when I made this thread. I think maybe that was the problem.

you felt less intelligent and unmotivated? wouldn't you think that not only your interest in using marijuana and those feelings were more directly related to your age and the onset of your bipolar disorder? it is statistically known bipolars have a history of experimenting with marijuana. many factors in a teenagers life would cause them to feel those feelings...and perhaps in your last period of usage you were entering the depressive lethargic state of bipolarism? i just think not enough scientific facts of marijuana have been studied, but more opinions are based on hype or fear...like the whole 'gateway drug' theory. it's like coffee, scientists still can't decide whether it's good or bad...for every 50 studies that say it's bad, there's another 50 proclaiming the health benefits. so why we may just end up 'agreeing to disagree' i just don't buy into the whole pot makes you stupid or lazy theory, only b/c i've known many intelligent, highly motivated people who were closet users.

You do realize that you're one of the only ones who spams threads on a regular basis right? What we are are doing here is having an honest intelligent conversation regarding a news article I posted from CNN. THIS is what Topix is meant to be used for.

Also, I have to finally say this because nobody else has and I know I can't be the only one who realizes this. When on a forum, a person picks a username that is personal to them or that describes them in some way. No matter, the username a person picks is what the other forum members refer to said person as. It's a username ... A name for yourself on a forum. You chose to be called "idiot" which I think is quite fitting as well as very funny, lol.

Sorry guys, back on track now, I mist had to finally point that out. ;)

It truly is very annoying when someone takes a good thread with good conversation and turns it into a spam all or attack mode in return the thread ends up deleted most of the time. There are hundreds of other threads for nonsense to be posted on.
