What about those of us who live paycheck to paycheck and barely do that. Yet we don't qualify for assistance. Can't afford a generator or to eat out for days. And I'm wondering if you claim it on insurance won't that raise your deductibles and/or premiums? As far as tree crew, yea that was me, my husband and kids! It's great some can afford all that but most can't!

Some electric company's have a form on their website for people to fill out that will help with the food loss. Maybe you should check into that and stop your crying because everyone got screwed

I don't think you were being mean and I don't think you're completely wrong. But for some families the extra $5 or $10 just isn't there. We too have sacrificed and luckily for us got through the last week ok. It was hard but that's life right? I truly think if you can afford to get that stuff and be prepared that's wonderful. My family and I are working our way there.

Exactly. Agreed totally. All I can say is we're providing the right example for our kids.

Are you young families? If so, don't give up. things will get better for you.
When my hubs and I graduated from college, we moved here with nothing but debt.
Now we are 60ish and more stable financially.
Don't give up, keep on working for your dreams.

Thank you. We are blessed with a happy home. We believe the money will follow if we keep working hard and setting a good example. Thanks again for your encouraging words.

I completely agree with you...we also live paycheck to paycheck didnt have money to eat out nor keep premium gas in a generator...my husband and older kids cleaned up our yards and the neighbors..no money for a tree man...and in order to file a claim its a 500.00 deductible..so not only will we not get money to replace lost food we had to scrounge for money to eat! we both work full time jobs..dont qualify for assistance of any kind..just work hard to pay the bills and put food on the table..crisis like this outage was hard on all aspects to people in our shoes!

People's general dependecy on systems they have no control over should be an issue at hand here. If you put all your eggs in one basket, eventually you won't have any eggs... Man up... Prepare better or prepare to suffer. Believe it or not, humans survived thousands of years without power.

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Leo

You'll benefit from spending time on your plans and dreams for the future. Instead of always thinking of these as things that might happen one day if you're lucky, alter your attitude and start thinking of them as things that will definitely happen. And maybe you could start the ball rolling by turning a modest wish into reality?
