unreal, rich you have totally missed the point here, it does not matter why of how the dogs got there it was YOUR job to take care of them humanely and you failed miserably.

Omg! Nice, Rich! Blame the people! You are clueless! So sorry the lost and abandoned pets were inconvenient for you! You know, while you were soaking up pay to provide that service, and also getting free rent!

If a scant few had any sympathy for you, Rich, I think it's over now!
OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

Really? Rich said "If people would take care of their dogs, they wouldn't end up here"
There are SO many things wrong with that I don't know where to begin!
First of all, many people who love and care for their dogs have the dogs run away. Some dogs are just runners or hunters or whatever. I love and care for my dogs very much, but they got out of the fence this summer and could have easily ended up at the shelter.
Next, if the dogs DO end up there, it's your freaking JOB to take care of them. Feed them, give them water, answer the phone when frantic owners are looking for their lost pets!
NO excuse for this. None.

So right! This is insane! It should be comforting to hope, should your beloved pet get lost somehow, that some good person will turn it in at the local shelter. Here, you better hope they don't! Seriously, something very wrong with this picture!

If animals never got loose, a good share of his job would be eliminated.

I wonder what the job qualifications for Van Wert County Dog Warden are. Obviously, intelligence level isn't a factor. He didn't want to be seen on camera, he should have gone a step further and just said "no comment" instead of making that idiotic comment.

I think Fista said something along those lines, although I agree. As far as media goes, don't count on exposure unless you're acting as your own media. Complaints and appeals to city council aren't generally published other than to publish the entire meetings, which rarely get full attention. Snippets make a real difference, giving issues and people the attention they deserve.

Line of sight, I can bridge 2 locations for internet access up to 1.2 miles, of course shortened by obstacles. With the new work we'll be getting starting next month, other technologies will become available. Worst case, periodically I'm happy to upload snippets from usb flash drives or memory sticks. The 5/12/2014 dog warden snippet has had 130 hits in the past 3 days. The 7/14/2014 water bill snippet has had 40 views in 2 days.

If your dad would have pulled out, we wouldn't have had this mess either Rich. What a complete idiot. I'm embarrassed to live in the same town as the worthless ahole.

So now that the shelter is back open, does this mean the investigation is over? If so, why has no one been charged?

It is my understanding that there was a disciplinary meeting today, plus the sheriff is expecting to wrap up his investigation by Friday. It is also my understanding that the Dog Warden has hired an attorney to represent him. To me that suggest that criminal charges and discharge from employment are expected.

You say that this was Richs job to maintain and care for the animals at the shelter, it's what he gets paid for....
Well you know what, back in the day they had community workers cleaning and caring for those dogs at the shelter. Even tho the dog warden at the time was getting paid to do it.
So my question is why didn't Rich have this same kind of help?

There is no shade of gray here. If your job is to do ABC and XYZ and all Rich was doing is ABC and NO XYZ, he isn't doing his job. If his job calls for him to work and he accepts the work, it's his responsibility.

My guess would be, he didn't want people in there to see what goes on, observing how he does or doesn't do his job.

I'd like to also find the rightful owners of those deceased and living pets, pay legal fees to start a personal lawsuit based on neglect, endangering and death on domesticated animals.

Are we still paying this scumbag to NOT do his job?
Apparently, VW can't afford a pool, but we CAN afford to pay a dog murdering idiot for nothing?

If what I'm hearing about the conflict of interests is right, He's making more than a lot of teachers, especially since his housing is covered too. Looking past the obvious, while this situation is being resolved to the satisfaction of the people, I really hope each and every individual in positions of authority in this county and city who did know what was going on take a good look at the consequences and become a bit more introspective. Is covering each others' back side really worth it, if it means people lose faith in the system? This one issue is an example of the disease that allowed it to persist for years.

Below is a quick lesson on political language, not to be confused with problem resolution.
