Does anyone else think they are being ripped off by this company. My gas bill was $27 and the only thing that is using gas is my pilot light. Last year I called them and complained about how high the bill was in the summer and they told me even if I had the pilot light turned off for the summer I would still be billed?? Again, we are basically at their mercy and they can charge anything they care to because they know they can get away with it. I dread to think
what it will be this winter! Some people I have talked to have a gas hot water heater and their bill is lower than mine.I don't get it.

Do you have a gas leak? Everything I have is gas, water heater, furnace, stove, dryer. My bill has been very very low this summer and natural gas is really cheap right now.
They do bill you just for transmission costs, etc. so maybe that is it?

I don't think they charge a minimum fee bc my meter was broken and I didn't get charged a penny until they came to check their meter and even then it varied what I get charhed to this day. I have a gas stove and water heater and my bill is never over 20 in the summer. my water has never charged a user fee either. If I didn't use any then there is no bill and yes I live in vw.

You have definately got it made if your not getting these charges. All the utilities are now charging a "use" or "customer" fee, It's become a huge rip off. I bet 24 to 25.00 of the gas bill is a customer fee and transmission fee. Both the Electric and Gas companies are using now. Something with PUCO allowed this change a couple years ago. Pretty lame if you ask me.

I know I have a transmission fee on both and that varies on how much I use. But I have never seen a customer fee.

Just looked at my aep bill and it is on there. Man how can they charge us for stuff we can't control. Now I need to check my water and gas bill. Sorry I didn't realize this was on my bill. Thanks for making me look. I am going to ask why they r charging a customer fee. That's just freaking greedy.

the transmission fees are for repair and maintaining the lines and paying the employees to do the services. this has just recently been listed as separate from the actual gas used, this came into being when the government made it mandatory to have a "choice" of carriers. example, if you switched to the new electric company, you still are charged by AEP a transmission fee because the new company uses AEP's existing equipment and AEP employees maintain it all, you pay the other company only for the actual electricity generated. These fees have always been part of the bill, they just use to throw everything together, can't do it that way now.

We get charged the fee and only have the pilot light on too. It's absolutely not fair! I understand charging a small service fee maybe like $5.00 but not $27.00!

If you can find a solution to our problem, please let us know. It is not fair that these utility companies are basically stealing from us. Is there anyone they have to answer to? Could the city help us out? They got involved in the electric company and supposedly got us lower rates. Can they do the same with Dominion or are we just screwed? Maybe I will call his honor and inquire.

it costs the same to maintain lines, pay employees, and other upkeep it doesn't matter how little or how much actual gas you use, it's costing the company the same amount of money to run gas to your house for a pilot light as it does for them to run it to someone else who has other gas appliances running, so you are charged the same transmission fee.

My transmissions fees vary every month based on what I use. The customer fee is fixed but I have pulled 6 months worth of bills on gas and aep. Each bill has a different transmission fee so, I think it is charged based at least a small amount what you use.

is there a base fee, and then they charge more if you use over a certain amount?

That's what I am not sure on but I don't think so. Last month my aep only charged me $1.36 for transmission fee and my whole bill was $7. But we r fixing this house up so power is only on when we r there.
