YM youth basketball team stacking?

Some kids are natural born athletes. Some work their tail off in the gym. Some want to be good, but dont have a plan. Games are at the Y on Saturday mornings. Stop up and make your own decision. I think you will find it to be well reffed and evenly matched. Then lets call an end to this mess!

You can think what you want, I heard these kids still play all on the same team at the YMCA . Good job YMCA for promoting Christian values. I think the team staying together is great, but at the tournament level. There is a difference between the Y leagues and tournament where the best of the best play. Sad the Y is creating this situation, and letting it continue. I think the kids of the community deserve more than this. This group of players may or may not be the best kids, at the Y every kid should get a fair shot at success and fun. That's how the program is built. Tournament teams are a different story.

Just keep in mind that if businesses like Eric's didn't sponsor youth sports, there either wouldn't be any or the kids would have to pay to play.
Maybe stop bashing the people who pay so that kids can have free sports.
That is the way it should be ! If you give to the sport ($$$$$) you should be able to set the rules the way you ($$$$$) want.
This is better to teach our kids than playing on an equal playing field. I applaude those kids that don't have this type of advantage. They keep trying knowing they may not win. To those that have this advantage, I feel sorry for them in their future lives. They will rely on money to get them whatever they want. Who knows what kind of trouble $$$$ will get them out of. If you have no $$$$$ it will be in all the papers. If you have $$$$$ and get into trouble it doesn't hit the paper. I wouldn't want my kid playing on the winning team if these are your values!

I agree with spike. At least when the team my kid plays on wins a game, they earned it. Their parents didn't pay to win games for their kids, like Eric does. Money buys the best.

In the the grand scheme of things it does not matter. It's the parents of the other teams in reality that cause the mess. They make excuses when these teams come in and dominate. That is when the kids on the other teams get down on themselves and don't have fun.
I love it. Blame the parents of the loosing teams. Where have you had your head since the begining of time. Parents have always found a way to get most of the best players on the same team. That way their kid is not a looser. Some of the worst teams do have a good player or two. But without all good players they wouldn't be the best. So lets blame it on the parents of the loosing teams now. Either you don't have kids that play sports or your kid is good and only plays on the best teams and this makes him look better.

NONE of this "elite" team are going anywhere playing sports. Make sure your kid gets an education. That's what's going to make them $$$

Really? Your food stamps, Medicaid, and other government handouts aren't free? They sure are for you.
Those businesses that pay for your kids to play are doing it because they care for kids. You should thank them instead of bashing them.
The only comment I made is that it isn't free and you've ASSumed everything else. I'm sure that's how you live your life. Making false assumptions that you present as truth and making yourself look like a sore loser jerk. My kids play a variety of sports and are also in dance and gymnastics outside of the Y and club ball, I pay hefty tuition each month that is probably more than your rent so you know what you can kiss...
It's jerks like you that make all of us hard working people look bad. How dare you shove the fact that some people may need help sometimes back in their face. Do you think that's productive? It's not. And a lot of people become complacent in their situation because of morons like you. I gladly pay our Y membership fee and give to charity so that other kids whose parents aren't as fortunate may play and perhaps grow up with a chance. If they are told they can become something and given a chance maybe they will run with it. Hateful people like you would rather see them fail so you can continue to assume and be an a-hole.

Actually you make the best point so far running and it makes me think to question.....
.
Is there anyone here that has a good handle on the names of basketball players from the county in the past decade or so that have received basketball scholarships?
.
Furthermore, has anyone ever played professionally?
.
(I personally remember Brandon Pardon, which I think I heard played professionally in Europe but that wasn't exactly a financial windfall. Also Doug Etzler played at Ohio State. The Cloud brothers were pretty good too but those pesky college courses seemed a bit much)

The first of the year is coming, the YWCA will take applications based on income. The YMCA also takes apps, but I'm not sure if they only do so at the beginning of the year or all year round. I've never had to fill one out, but I'm sure if you call they can answer that question. From there If you qualify they will let you know. Because people donate to certain charities and pay for our memberships the Y's are able to offer scholarships to so many kids throughout the year. I think it's a great program. I know Kim Hohman also offers certain discounts and scholarships if you have kids that want to dance or learn tumbling.

I'm sure Mitch would find a suitable pair of shoes for any child that didn't have a pair.:)

I understand you're trying to make some kind of weird point, but it's petty. I don't know if you think because a kid's parent's are poor that it means the kid should be excluded and punished or what. I won't assume. All I do know is that those kids deserve as much of a chance as any other, and some people don't like that. Too bad. Both Y's attempt to give those kids that chance. If you don't like it then don't donate, no one is forcing you.

Not sure about basketball, but I believe Joel Penton went on to play football at Ohio State.
And there was someone who played briefly for the Redskins, I forget who. I could Google it, but I just don't care enough.:)

Thanks for the minimal input there NS ;-)
.
Seems to me that there was something called open enrollment that was supposed to put this whole trifling hot mess to rest and this wasn't just recent either.
.
If somebody thought they didn't have the correct last name at a certain school, it was made clear, they were free to go play at a different school if their shitt really was so incredibly damn good.
.
But.......NOT THE CASE IN THE OLE VDUB...... Trifling hot mess is a sport in and of itself in the ole Vdub.:~]
