I've never been on Methadone but I've tapered from Suboxone and regular Opiates like Percocet. You're going about it the right way and you're bound to have some cravings and discomfort for awhile. Tapering isn't painless and at some point you have to jump off and go straight to taking zero. That's when you'll have the most cravings and discomfort IMO but not nearly as bad as if you were to just quit, especially with Methadone. Methadone is very similar chemically to Heroin and I went cold turkey from Heroin..not easy. Good luck though man I'm sure you will make it.

Instead of asking idiots off topix who would manipulate you on the subject, why not talk to a variety of doctors who specialize in addictions. Methadone was never meant to heal you from your addiction but to give you a new addiction. It's just another high, forced onto people who are/were weak.

Posting such things like this knowing there is actual people who can help you not found on topix. You open the door for bickering. Intentional or not who knows.

Fista I'm sure your unintelligent input on this thread is what most consider "dumb" but you already know that, your life is the definition after all.

I am too on a methadone maintence treatment over in ft.wayne. your doing way better than me. Im telling you I have been going for 2years now and havent even thought about comming down or even off of it yet. I am mostly scared of exactly what ur going through. Relapse is at an almost 100% rate. So my advice to you is to d what fels comfortable, dont rush recovery hun, you will be going through intake again and re-trying treatment to you. If I were you I would actually go back up to where your not irratable and feeling discomfort. Ppl in this world either accept it or hate it and think its just another way to get high, after your stable on the medicine you are just another person in sciety taking medicine. The peple who say its only a replacement for whatever you were on dont have any clue untill they've walked a mile in your shoes. I used to let it get to me but its my recovery n no one elses, so I just do what i need to do for my life b/c it has made my life wonderful and i feel like a person of worth and I actually have a job now and a car and MONEY of my own that dont go to drugs. Im not sure how long you were an addict but if it was for a long period of time then I wld stay right where ur at, and think about going back up, not a lot but maybe enough to stop those cravings!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!

To better than me

Yeah that's exactly what they want u to do is stay where ur at or go back up. It's all about the money there. Have u ever noticed they go out of there way to raise ur dose but never help u get off the stuff. There's medication they could give u for those small craving but do they nope because there hoping u just go right up to a so called stable dose. I was over there for 6 years and when I got off the withdrawal was horrible way more than if I would of just did the withdrawal off of the street drugs. The longer ur on that shit the more ur body becomes dependent the worse the withdrawl. Well there's my 2 cents keep up the substitution.

Detoxing from anything is tough. It's the right of passage to freedom, at least on one level. There are many sets of chains you wont see until you break these chains and begin to question your reality.

The strongest addiction is mental, no physical, although the physical part is pretty strong. If yu, deep in your heart, WANT TO QUIT, then methadone is one tool to help you do so (there are others, some which don't involve any drugs). If you really don't want to quit, nothing will make you do so.

I hope you can make it. And I hope you find the contentment and happiness which will help you stay clean.
