Has this ever been seriously discussed ?

Seems logical with US 224 and US 30 aleady in place, just a hort section to connect them all together and remove a lot of traffic and pollution out of town.

actually when 30 and 224 were bypassed around VW, there were plans in place to use the new 224 bypass as a western part of a future 127 bypass. this is why 224 has an open area on the east side that has fairly recently planted with trees. the state also bought a parcel of land that from vw-decatur road to upp road. this area is where the new state garage and highway patrol post were built. this area was SUPPOSED to be where a 127/224 interchange could be built. now, the idea of a 127 bypass is lost forever.

way to go ohio!

Thanks for the input .. lost for a while, but buildings can be moved in the future. Just does seem strange a gap of rougly 3 miles and a complete bypass could be done removing a huge portion of through truck traffic off the streets of VW.

It has been discussed before to many people complain about if they would do a bypass down town bussiness would decline. I really don't see to many truck drivers stopping in at any of the business that are down town .It is just an excuse . It would be nice less traffic and less of the roads getting torn up . But this is Van Wert people don't like change , most people here are very closed minded to anything new .

Most cities covet four lane highways, it spurs economic growth.

Must of had a heck of time bringing electricity and phones back in the day.

More people than truck drivers use the highway. Families traveling or people on business trips etc.

If they were to complete the bypass around VW, the only trucks that would take the shortcut would be those going east on 30 from 127 south. It would not be shorter or faster for trucks following 127 only. So, I would expect some trucks definitely would take the bypass, but not a major portion of it.

No stop lights, 65 mph versus city traffic ... you sure about that one Einstein ?
