I am worried about our town.... we need jobs here in Van Wert and if our city leaders continue to be pains about bringing business here then our town too will die out, there is NOTHING here for young families to survive!!!! We are becoming a retirement community they don't need the jobs but the young families do. I understand the issue about safety but that curve has been a safety issue for a long time and should've been taken care of a long time ago and they are using that as a excuse. Obviously I am supportive of the Walgreens and Dave Murphy just wanting to help out Van Wert and bring jobs. Alot of people here have lost jobs not just Kongsberg but also Fleetwood in the last 9 months have also affected Van Wert people. To our city leaders please vote YES on Monday the 22nd our town depends on it! If you keep putting up road blocks on development no one will want to come here to build business let alone live here!!!

well, you all don't have to worry about walgreens coming to town because they backed out. Was it because of the economy or was it the city council? Now we can all pay more taxes, like .22 the police and fire dept. and all the people on south washington st. that didn't want it! So now whats coming in, a bar or a titty bar or a gambling establishment? The city of van wert needs more tax income to run the city of van wert. So whats next?

Van Wert is turning into a sad little town. They thought building the "super" shitty Wal Mart next to the sewage plant was a great idea....ha ha ha.
Anytime any new place wants to come in to town it turns into a big argument....very sad indeed.
I can't wait till my 2 boys are old enough to be on their own so I can move the hell away from here...like everyone else seems to be doing.

I am so disappointed with
Van Wert City Council that I
may never again vote for
anyone presently siting on
same. SHAME ON YOU!!
When it came to the final vote
on the rezoning of the South
Washington/Ervin Road
intersection to become
business, no one represented
the citizens who wanted this
intersection kept safe or the
ones who wanted to keep a
business out of their front yard.
Some of you voted ďnoĒ
before when it didnít really
count, but on the final reading
which did count, no one had
the intestinal fortitude to stay
the course.
We tried since last fall to get
someone to understand that
Van Wert needs industry first,
not more businesses as every
business in town is already
hurting. No one can buy
anything if they donít have
good-paying jobs. But, did
anyone get it? Not a one.
Obviously, we, the voters,
have no representation in this
town, so why bother to vote? It
gets us nowhere.
Congratulations, Mr.
Murphy!! Big money wins
again!
Now, I have some questions
for City Council and Mr.
Murphy.
When this rezoning issue
arose many months ago, there
was all this hoopla about a
FOUR MILLION DOLLAR
project expounded upon at
great length by Tom
Alexander, Don Farmer,
Nancy Bowen, Jane Jones, and
others. Fifteen jobs were
quoted which many Kongsberg
employees were wanting and
came to the meetings for. Also,
Walgreens Drug Store was
highly touted. Now, we hear
NOTHING about any of the
above. What happened to all
this, and why did council vote
to okay this proposal when all
the above seems to have
vanished? The council went
ahead and voted to give Mr.
Murphy control of this corner
for the next five years.
Also, why is it that
someone who doesnít even live
here gets everything they want
when they go before council,
and the people who live here
and pay taxes get nothing?You
shoot us down every time.
Consequently, none of you
deserve my time or vote. I
donít care if any of you are
ever re-elected again. Also,
donít ask me to sign your
petitions to run again.
I sincerely believe Mr.
Murphy will be looking for
another business and then will
ask for another variance which
you will probably grant. I see
no end to it.

It isn't really going to matter I'm afraid... too little too late. There are NO jobs in Van Wert or anywhere near here young families will soon be moving away to get jobs. So many of us have lost jobs and our homes...something is better than nothing. Mrs. Wise put some money where your mouth is and for once stand behind your community to help it instead of constantly bitching and complaning!!!!!!

When hasn't Van Wert been a shit hole? When hasn't Van Wert been corrupt? Van Wert sucks and it always will. Wallgreens backed out because of the number of businesses going under in the area. Can you blame them?
