Anyone know anything about it? It looked like a pretty big fire from a distance. Hopefully no one was injured.

The scanner said there was an injury and the fire sounded like it engulfed the whole house. You could smell the smoke in town.

It was the place that was wilamens orchard and I think it was now owned by Adams...they still had the apple orchards and sold apples and apple products... across from where camp clay is located

A family could deal with a whole lot more, if no one died in the fire, that is a plus.

I think perhaps they are referring to the Priest boy, her son, who was severely injured a few years ago...and now a house fire...I'm guessing that is what they meant.

Don't get me wrong I feel bad for the family but how many benefits do you think they we have for them this time? They had something like 5 when the accident happened and people around town are already asking where they can donate money for them. Like I said don't get me wrong I do feel bad but there are other families in the community that have had fires, accidents, medical expenses ect that have received no kind of help from this town. Guess it all depends on the name you have.

I just think there are alot of people who are asking what else can this family go thru...I would guess that the medical fees after Tyler was injured were astronomical and still continue to be. Tyler's mom was off work for quite awhile and financially that takes a toll on a family. I think anyone would want to reach out and help a family with 4 school age kids who just literally lost everything they had. Not necessarily a name thing but just a compassion thing and if people want to help, more power to them.

I am in no way putting the family down and as I said twice before I DO FEEL BAD FOR THEM. I went to the benefit they had for Tyler in Ohio City. I just wish the community would come together for my families that have had tragedies in their lives also. I don't know this family but I felt bad and knew there would be hugh expenses for them that's why I went to the benefit. I ALWAYS try to give something when I hear about a benefit for someone in the community. It might not be much but every penny counts. As I said before I just wish mote people could get the same kind of help that many others seem to get.

I agree 100% with you, but I think alot of it has to do with knowing people "the right people" so to speak that take the initiative to start these things. Maybe that pay it forward group could spearhead these kinds of things, I know putting together a benefit is a huge undertaking but yes, I agree with you that it would be nice if the entire community would wrap their arms around people who are victims of these kinds of things. Unfortunately people just dont seem to want to always do that :(

Sometimes its what you do for your community that dictates how your community reacts. Part of the reason so many come out to help is because many members of this family are giving, caring and community involved. Give and you shall receive

If you feel any given family has been overly lavished upon, the thing to do is opt to not attend or donate. If others choose to that's up to them, isn't it?

Agreed, I see the Priest family in church, their father is an educator, their mother is a nurse and they have given alot of their time to 4H and other organizations! You get what you give!

Old hippie worlds like "karma" are out of style these days...and I'm not typically a superstitious type of person...but observations over many years of life have shown me time and again, people who tend to be jealous or resentful of good things happening for others...who are not filled with goodwill and grace when they see others as recipients...often do not receive themselves! Open your heart and spirit (and I don't even mean in a necessarily "religious" way), have a generous attitude, and you might be surprised at the positive things that start coming your direction!

You are saying that if you have a generous heart and are filled with goodwill towards others, then good things and events will come to you. OK, people have said that's exactly what this family is like, and look what they have had happen to them! YOU do not control what happens to you; it is not earned it is given, if you are God's these thing are trials to strengthen your faith, if you are not they are judgements. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS KARMA OR EARNING BROWNIE POINTS FROM A "UNIVERSE"

I have a right to think as I please, last time I checked. I don't believe my opinion promoted anything illegal! And this IS an open forum! But thanks for your input!

You're certainly entitled to your opinion as well!

Just don't get why no one can have varying points of view about ANYTHING around here without people getting so steamed and testy! Anger must be a big problem for Van Wert! lol
