Get some Clorox Bleach or the no name brand if you can't afford the name brand and actually CLEAN your mold off of wherever it is. As for the mice, set traps, and keep your apartment clean. The landlord didn't put the mold and the mice there. Do your part.

Every home has mold, at least a little bit. it is impossible to completely eliminate. It shouldn't become a problem unless an area is continuously wet, and wood remains damp. That makes the location easier to isolate and repair. Bleach spray will temporarily knock it down, but the real repair is to eliminate the dampness.

Mice are a continuous problem in some homes, and an occasional problem in all the rest. Sanitation is the primary treatment, if they have nothing to eat they will not reproduce. Simple mousetraps can clear up most mouse populations, but if you leave food where they can get it, they will reproduce beyond what traps can catch.

Same goes with roaches. It is your responsibility to keep your house clean, not your landlord's. Most every landlord I know will supply bait, traps, and spray for the occasional infestation, but you can't expect that to work if you leave food out for them. Pet food dishes are the biggest food source for roaches, along with that nasty area under your refrigerator. And those are tenants' responsibility.

If your kid breaks a window, don't expect the landlord to jump and fetch that instant and do a free repair.

Furnaces are the landlord's responsibility, along with structural and electrical issues, as long as the tenant doesn't abuse the building and equipment. But if you rent a house with obvious problems, and the landlord says he has no intention to fix it, you are stuck with it. I'm talking about things like a sagging roofline, missing bedroom doors, sloping or uneven floors, worn carpet, and other obvious imperfections. If such things offend you, then rent somewhere else.

I don't think this guy is complaining about the typical 'household mold'...some mold has to be professionally cleaned (mold in airducts, insides of walls, from countless sources)...household cleaners can't eliminate that...its unhealthy, and home owners (ie- landlords) are REQUIRED BY LAW to have it eliminated...
