Has anyone noticed That the Deputy's have been doing Security for JellyStone? Every night they are there Patroling and pulling over People and writing tickets. The sad part is they say its peace disturbance for the camp ground. This needs to stop. Are we paying for Their security too

Oh i could go on and on about the sheriffs department. But this does not surprise me one bit. Jellystone has a VanBelle sign up and Waycaster (jellystone ) and VanBelles wives are friends. Go figure

If you are a Deer Run resident you should not want Van Belle as Sheriff. He has catered to Wacaster all summer. Wacaster calls the sheriff when the landowners are just at the gravel bar enjoying themselves. Wacaster makes up false complaints so the sheriff dept will respond and harass the land owners. If the sheriff dept can't realize what is going on with Wacaster and how he uses and manipulates the dept then Van Belle and his deputies must go! There has been 2 incidents at D.R. recently where theives had been caught. One was 2 guys stealing central air units and the other was Jon Bourque that just got out of prison and was caught in the act of taking property out of a residence. The sheriffs dept has not filed these cases yet. I was told Van Belle felt sorry for Jon and didn't want to send him back to prison. So i guess just let him remain free to burglarize more houses, way to go sheriff.

Answering complaints, regardless of who they are from, is not "catering" but doing what he is paid to do.

If I understand the law correctly it is unlawful to report false information to the sherrif's department. After hundreds of calls this summer from Jellystone, not one call has been justified.

You THINK there were hundreds of calls, you THINK none were justified.
Why use the Sheriff's Office as a pawn between two competing interest. Just let Law Enforcement do their job. It is hard enough as it is.
How about no more back biting.
Yours for a healthier community.

How many of those hundreds of calls resulted in an actual crime and charges being filed? I would venture to guess that maybe only 1% resulted in an arrest of some kind. Now tell me there wasn't false calls or it's not catering. The county is the security for Jeff Wacaster period.

Dick we all know that is not true. I know of a business that called and it took two days to get there also what about the lady in Southtown that found s man on her couch and called and her kids arrived before the department and her kids live on C. What about our Barney Fife sheriff pointing a gun at the girls making a night deposit for a store they work at. This is a small town and most of us can tell who works where and what they are doing. Hell they had their work shirts on for Pete's sake what about the sledge kidnapping and not notifying other departments. It makes the news many days later. If. They are still here they are sure laughing and if they left it was sure easy for them to do since we live on a major highway. And no other town new a thing. So they could drive right through. Way to go. Way to keep ALL the people safe

About 27 post back this had all been debated. You might find it interesting and enlightening. I think it saw entitled "Police are a joke."

Well Dick. I don't hang out topix and read all the posts. But if it was debated before and preople are angry about the police maybe just maybe out sheriff would do things right and not draw attention to his unprofessional ways

May I ask, in a professional manner,
In the last twenty years how many Sheriff's have you approved of and how many have you liked.(The work they do?)
why

Mr Hern,
May I ask why you care so much whether we like the man or not? How is it any of your concern? Unless of course you yourself work for the man and know your job is in jeopardy. A new sheriff means new deputies. It is my understanding that Rick plans on overhauling the whole department.

You must be fortunate enough to never had to call them. If you were one of us who have had problems and needed them, you would know how long the response time is.

Past sheriffs are not the issue here, the current sheriff is though. You have the right to vote for whom ever you want. We also have that same right.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply.
My only interest is in trying to move the citizens to work together for a more harmonious community. I was just wondering if any Sheriff had met the expectations of the citizens.
Of course you are correct I want everyone to vote for the person they think will best satisfy them. As will I.

So your just another one of them know it all city folk who come down to float our river and decide you like it and want to move here. Then the first thing you want to do is change things to how YOU want it to be. Like taking our boats away when we've been boating on the river for generations and now you want to come down here and tell us we can't do that any more because YOU don't like it.

No thanks. Go back to where ever you came from and do your changing there. We dont want it or need it here.

No you are incorrect, My wife was raised around here. I have lived here about 14 years. Property owner and a registered voter.
How did the boats get into this conversation.
We were discussing Law Enforcement, but thanks for your input.
