I bought a place that was being leased by a local
farmer. He was running cows on the lease and the realtor at the time of purchase did not move him and his cows off my new farm despite the fact that his cows ran loose up to the house without any fences. I asked this local farmer to move his cows but he pleaded for a few weeks. He wanted to continue the lease with me by paying me exactly what the FSA would pay me directly, very generous on his part. The next few weeks spent cleaning up the overgrown farm and working with the Natural resource commission and their list of various local operators. I mentioned in passing to one of the operators mistakenly that an old wagon left in my delapidated barn may have been left behind by that farmer. In fact, I later found out that all the old equipment plow, wagon, homemade gates etc. were from the original owmers years before. Not knowing that at the time, this local farmer shows up the next morning very early honking his horn wanting his wagon. He had been contacted right away like he belonged to some gossiping womens group. I told him I had already put new tires on it just to move it. He complained and tried to jew me down on the price of the tires. Then when I escorted he and his son to the back field to get the wagon, he said he owned but no longer had proof of. Then once out of sight he says BOW-UP Boy and wanted me to fight him and his offspring. I went to call the police as he loaded up the wagon with gates and other relics. I returned telling him to leave which he did after trying to run in to me with his truck at the gate. Now, I just moved there and this was going to be my little piece of heaven. Country hospiality is DEAD!
What kind of people do that?
