President Obama
Dear Mr. President
When it comes to energy there is no free lunch. Our struggle with energy is like our struggle with cancer. We have spent tons of money over a very long period of time and still no clear cut solution. There are three very important reasons to solve the energy problem. The first is global warming. If scientists are correct, and I believe they are this alone should cause panic to solve this problem. The second reason is health; again scientists tell us that because we burn coal we kill 10,000 people a year because of the pollution. To put this into prospective we just spent close to a Trillion Dollars on a war because our enemiesí Killed 3,000 of our people. I think maybe we are fighting the wrong battles. How much pollution do you create by trying to clean coal youíre better off leaving it in the ground undisturbed? Where do you put the crap in our water supply? How do you clean something that is all bad for you? Now for the third and most important reason to get on the right tract for energy. The amount of money that leaves this country to people that donít pay taxes on the money and in some cases spend that money to hurt our country. They donít employ American workers ether. In a country that needs to get there finical house in order this is crazy. Over the last 10 years were talking about $3,500,000,000,000.00 Dollars. Thatís 3 trillion 500 billion. Now you know where the jobs are.
I believe that Nuclear should be our first choice cleaner than anything else. Safer than the rest by far plus we have plenty of it, and there are as you know new technology coming to even make it safer and cheaper. Most of our electricity should be by nuclear.
The next choice is natural gas. It can be used to generate electric and fuel for transportation. Trucking companies and big gas producers have already started to do this without government help. What I say is how about the average guy. I want this for cars because itís cheaper, cleaner and can supply electric to the electric car. The only one to benefit is the consumer so no one else cares if this happens. The big natural gas companies have their hands full trying to get the trucking companies using natural gas. Again where is the government? Second cleanest source of energy 30% to 40% cleaner than gasoline and lots and lots of jobs.
As far as I can see these are our best choices. We have large supplies of both. You would say solar, but you need to store that energy for later and batteries cause more pollution than coal. The same is true for wind. Some times to solve one problem we crate one that is much worse. I have been complaining now for at least 8 years and still no action from our government. Sooner or later we need to take action. How long are we going to chase our tail?
We need an energy policy NOW!!!!!!!
I would like to thank you for your time and I know you stand with the 99% and as the song goes we shall overcome some day.
