We have the internet and didn't have to get a phone thru them. You may want to check into that. As for being slow, ours was during the holiday bad. Its better now tho. Its the ONLY internet you can get out in the country here (sawyer) besides hughes net which is a internet that charges after so many minutes.
According to someone here, the only reason it costs more closer to Valliant, is the requirement to pay for a phone line. It is a basic line with no extras or anything, but the DSL and Wi-Fi carries the service on a regular phone line and that is the only option here, the cheapest anyways. Thanks for the information. I wonder how they can provide internet all the way over in another county, almost all the way to Hugo cheaper than they can provide it a few blocks away from their company? Seems impossible but somehow they do it, I guess. May I ask, if you have no phone line, how do you receive and transmit digital information from Sawyer to Valliant and then on through all of the places it must go before arriving back to your computer?
Also, just assuming you already have a telephone with some other company, if you are required to have a telephone service already and you still pay over $55.00 for your internet service alone, you are actually paying more altogether for the internet than if you lived in Valliant. I don't know of any basic phone lines that would be $11 or cheaper. Usually it's about $30 a month for basic phone service with caller ID, call waiting, etc.
