Seriously, wasn't a security guard fired for sleeping on the job at that nuclear plant? I hope its not this recruit...It will only take a minute to hop on a Segway and patrol the market like I saw today, and run from the 'hoods....

Welcome, Officers!
Welcome to shit town! Your boss is a bed wetter that is afraid of guns... I hope that won't impede your ability to enforce the law.

Your radio may or may not work. Good luck with that.

The million dollar shotspotter system is deterring crime so your job should be light-paced and relatively easy.

The mayor says the bums are "relatively harmless" and there is no such thing as "loitering". He also says crime is down 15%. Remember what the mayor said: "its not crime, its only the perception of crime."

You guys are going to have it easy here, a real cakewalk.

Don't they look like short-bus riders with their little helmet on? The segways need streamers for the handle bars and a clown horn to match the rest of the setup.

You can thank People's Bank for those segway scooters. Ever since People's Bank moved from the E Market Street location (where they paid taxes) to the W Phila Street location (where they don't pay taxes) they somehow were able to muster up the money for the segways.

Hey Steve? Isnt that great Keystone Opportunity Zone that "Goodtime Charlie" instituted great? Instead of drawing new businesses into the City already existing, taxpaying companies moved into the tax free zones! No new business and less taxes! What great plan that Mayor Brenner continues!

Does not matter, George...They all sleep on the job around here, maybe not literally...I live and work in the city and the cops are a joke...I know 2 good honest ones, and I will not state the names....And Yes Computer Steve, they look like a handicapped child who has to wear a helmet to protect his head when they drive their SEGWAYS! I do think the YCP SEGWAYS lack streamers and funny clown horns too....LOL!!!

Congratulations and best wishes to the new members of the YCPD. George, Computer Steve and "withheld" apparently have no respect for the jobs you do and the protection you provide. Trust me, they do not speak for all Yorkers. Peace, and Be safe!

The new recruit who was mentioned above was not employed at the nuculear power plant when the sleeping incident occurred. That same recruit is in the military and served for a year in a maximum security prison as an MP in Iraq dealing with terrorists and detainees. He will be an asset to the city of York.

Oh you people read my post wrong.

The post was clearly directed at the idiot commissioner and the coward mayor.

These new officers probably don't realize what they are walking into. Radios that don't work, liberal policies that don't work, liberal programs that don't work, and shot spotters that don't work.

You know the worst thing of all... is that the public will automatically hate them here.

They could have joined West York's force instead. Earn more, get treated better, and have better equipment.

Facts are facts.

York has more "Dead Wood" on their police force than a Bowling Alley. New blood might help. I hope they fight real crime instead of raiding keg parties and issuing parking tickets. York cops are the laughing stock of the police community in Pa. Good luck Rookies!

Actually I have the utmots respect for the officers, but none for the "job they do" because the Mayor and Commissioners have the officers doing nothing except responding to the gunshot detectors, busting keg parties and providing security around the stadium and Arts District and York College! Meanwhile we have shootings, stabbings and little girls being shot down in the other areas of the City!

I am sorry to say, the York City police do not do their job for the most part (see crime stats and roll thru the neighborhood late). Yesterday, I saw a policeman patrolling market on a Segway before heading into York Arts...tell me how that is putting a dent into crime? Maybe that is his jurisdiction, but the city needs a lot more than him!!!I know many victims of crimes such as muggings, thugs ripping cell phones from an old man's hand and beating him, and many owners of businesses who complain the sales have gone down due to violence in parking lots.(Roosevelt Tavern) I even saw my dream house in the city, my parents told me NO!!!!!! I would never get resale, its location, location, location....And this is not where you want to live, unless you want to be a victim of a crime or a stat.

Again... this is their leadership, not the individual officers.

An officer doesn't wake up in the morning and decide what part of town to patrol, how to patrol, what to go after. Those details are mandated by the idiot commissioner. The policies are decided by the mayor and commissioner. Both are far-left wing liberal coconuts.

Everyone that says "this happens everywhere..." well I have one question for you: How many other places have a "dear crack dealer sign" on the window for months while shootings and beatings continue at the same location.??????? Huh? Hello? Bueller?

Watch this video and listen to the idiot commissioner for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Here we go again in York City. Another 3 offeicers are hired and no one of color. Not too long ago 7 were hired and no color. This department doesn't resemble the community at all. Racism is very much alive. How do the city government expect the people of the city to respect this police force when there is little representation of them on the force. I'm very disappointed with this. They can't say there are no minorities on the list because I am one that has pass. Why don'y the city council address the injustice to minorities when it comes to hiring on the police force.

We need more crack dealers on the force so it is more representative of the community. Also, all officers should be trained to hold their weapon gangsta style and only shoot perps below the knee.

Maybe its because no one of color applied for the job or that the officers that were hired were better qualified. I'd much rather have a more qualified officer on the force who may or may not be representative of the community in terms of race than an officer who is from what you call "colored" and less quailified.

What a stupid standard and way of thinking.

Good luck guys and stay safe.
