Why would he be released on an appearance ticket? Did management have cameras that he didn't know about?

I used to work in the Anti-Shoplifting industry. A major part of a store's losses was employee theft. Security systems of all type can be hidden EVERYWHERE. Whether they are turned on is another story. THINK before you steal, someone is probably watching.

Remember their old jingle:

"JCPenney - It's All Inside!"

Guess they were talking about this little inside job, huh?

I hope he understands that he ruined his reputation for being trustworthy for a lousy $1,700 in jewelry. Didn't the "manager of loss prevention" realize he was on video and that everything he was doing was being recorded?

I believe his next job will involve the phrase "Would you like fries with that?"...

Reminds me of Ralph Cianflone the security guard @ JCP/Sunrise Mall back in the 70's.

Worked Security years ago. I also took things from behind locked counters. BUT they were placed in a secured area until a thieft was reported. Then the Security Area Manager along with the Store Manager with the department manager were notified and taken to the secured area to retreive the items. It was all documented. This was done to actually see if the department personnel were actually doing an inventory of their merchandise. I would also open the cash draw and roll money to fall behind the draw so when they did a cash out they would come up short. If the register did not come up short and the money was found behind the draw once again. The Store Manager and Area Director were notified. Never did I place anything in my pocket that was not paid for.
