I saw the advertisement in the paper about what the city council just voted in favor of. I couldn't believe it. We just cleaned house down there and some of the same idiots I just voted for had the nerve to vote this stuff in? I was promised they would be "fiscally responsible". I was lied to.. big surprise right? We are not the same class of city as Louisville, there is no reason our employee pay should be based on pay in Louisville. Nor did we need any new employees.
Jose Cubero you are a liar and just lost my vote
Gloria Taft you are a liar and just lost my vote
Dana James you are a liar and just lost my vote
In fact I will now actively campaign against all three of you...
Bernie Brown and Clinton Kline I want to thank you for voting responsibly.
Plain and simple, like you, you are an idiot. The city actually has a surplus now instead of almost being taken over by state.

Bob,
General fund money can be used for sewer debts. Sewer money can't be used for general fund purposes. In the past that is where our city officials have apparently become confused, so don't blame yourself for not understanding.

Sorry to step in on this. But you are also not entirely correct. The city had a surplus for 2012 you are correct. But with this new spending plan, if Shepherdsville tax base remains the same there will be a $200k Deficit for 2013. There is no other way to look at that. If you have a 400k surplus for 2012 and in 2013 you spend 600k more, where does that 200k come from? There certainly won't be $50k laying around to add to the emergency fund, there will be 200k coming out of the fund. Just thought that needed pointed out.

Also I hope

The tax base has not stayed the same, it has increased. The projections made were much lower than what has been collected.

Do like I did and ask a council person to see the financial statements. I was concerned about what they did until I saw the information for myself.

I guess we better hope it continues to increase and account for a 200k difference. I suppose time will tell.

Bernie doesn't have problem giving qk4 or his son a bunch of money. But he doesn't want the employees to get a raise. It's time for Bernie and Larry to take a hike. And Bernard is the worst about trying hide information about the city. Revenue was figured low and expenses high
Larry and Bernard will look like fools when this is over. But they are use to that.

I guess it never hurts that at least one of the new city council members has slept with at least one of the police officers.

Talk about stupid and totally irrelevant. This is like when a couple of kids are fighting and one of them has nothing left in the argument so they start saying "well, you're momma!".

Stick to the topic at hand and drop lame duck cheap shots like this.

Ouch I guess this hit a nerve. Perhaps the great Oz is showing his or her face.

I think it's totally revelant that a person who has or is sleeping with someone votes to give that person a pay raise during their first meeting as a council member, especially when it was a 4-2 split.

Either put up or shut up. Nobody likes the pretense of someone acting like they know something when in all actuallity , they don't. If you know something underhanded is going on then I say put it ALL out there. Don't have people thinking the council is a mini Payton Place if you don't have proof and or don't reveal.

ABSTAIN, she was the one who made the motion. Total conflict of intrest. I heard they were texting back and forth during the meeting.

I'm happy. The council paid off some loans and added a officer for my sons school. I feel a lot better that a cop will be there. I can't believe two of them voted against making our schools safer.

Pretty simple. They don't think shepherdsville needs the extra bills. Thanks for the hilarious attempt to play on everyone's heart strings in an effort to divert attention from the point.

They could have added an officer to your kids school and then paid on their debt, rather than re-adjust the loan! Those two have nothing to do with a huge pay raise that I hear is way higher than any other local police department.

And what Jason brought up about the conflict of interest is too true. A first time council member at her first meeting who happened to sleep with someone on the department makes a motion to give huge pay raises to the police? If that does not raise questions, then no one should have been upset over Tinnell. I guess at least she is padding her friends pocket books right in front of everyone instead of behind their back like Tinnell did. Gotta give her that. I heard she has always wanted him since he dropped her a few years ago even though she is married, maybe she thinks this will get her back in?

Larry, Jim, and Bernie didn't get the turn out they wanted at the citycouncil meeting tonight. Not to mention Linda and Jim looked like fools. And Bernie just kept his mouth shut. Larry didn't even have enough balls to show up.
