Marylin Manson is looking to build or remodel a property in the area to make a shock house of horrors and partnering to open an occult bookstore .

Do you have a link to this? I have to admit I'm a little skeptical. Especially in regard to the occult bookstore part. New Age shops generally aren't that profitable, and are typically only run by hippies who do it as a labor of love. I'd also say that the market may already be saturated in the area, since the Highlands, which probably has the largest pagan population, already has several shops. The only other suitable place I could think of might be Old Louisville, or possibly NuLu.

Either way, I won't have anything to do with that twit Manson.

I don't know how true it is. I posted it hoping people would take a stand against it. Kinda like a nuclear waste dump who wants it around. But my cousin does sound work for a lot of bands on the road. Story goes Manson from Indiana originally has purchased land and has some family in the area somewhere. Hate to say but there are a lot of people that would probably flock to something like that because of curiosity and the truth is hate to say it there are some freaky people here.

Well, I have no moral objections to anything like this. I just don't like Manson's music or public persona. And from an economic point of view, it could bring in a lot of tourism.

But, it still sounds unlikely. This kind of attraction is largely seasonal, and there are so many similar attractions around Halloween, ranging from the Baxter Avenue Morgue, Waverly Hills, or that full amusement park with a horror theme. And there are plenty of things in Southern Indiana as well. And, to my knowledge, Manson has never shown any real interest in "the occult". He had some correspondence with Lavey, but the Church of Satan is practically defunct, and there are probably less than 2 dozen books written by members of it. And, as I stated before, the Wiccan/Pagan market is saturated, and most members of those religions wouldn't want anything to do with this idiot.

Yeah, he's just a big azz phoney. I went to his concert several years ago down at Louisville Gardens, and they kept saying on the radio they were having trouble selling tickets. Then all of a sudden there was some religious group protesting the concert and ticket sales went through the roof. I have to admit, I myself wasn't even that interested in going until I heard about the protesters and wanted to go down and see what the fuss was about. Me and my friends even dressed up in MM face paint and was messing with the protesters. Later on when we go it in, all the people protesting were inside and seemed to be enjoying the concert like the rest of us, even seen some in the mosh pit. It was obviously just a big set up to sell tickets. While inside in the beer line, I also got a chance to meet and talk to his father. He too said that his whole persona was just an act, he didn't actually believe in any of the satanic crap he sang about and that he had a wife and kids and was not gay or bisexual in the least. But the biggest bunch of BS was the hype in the news and Courier-Journal. They were making claims that he urinated on the crowd, wiped his azz with the Bible and set it on fire, ect, but I was there front row moshing and none of this happened. The worst I seen done was he ripped some pages out and threw the Bible in to the crowd. Nothing else. Later it was reported that he said he would never come back to Louisville because of the protesters and closed-minded bigots in Louisville, but then it was told the the real reason was because ticket sales in Louisville were the lowest of the tour. He's nothing but a big fat phoney...

I would never attend one of it's concerts, even if I didn't have to pay for the ticket. His act of tearing pages out of the Bible would have been enough to make security rush to my seat. What a freak!

One day we all got to face God. Go on line & listen to Aton Lavay's death bed confession yeah he wasn't so brave about following satan than fact is he said the devil lied to him now ain't that a bitch!

That claim is rather suspect. One person claims he started screaming in terror before he died, but everyone else there said he died fairly peacefully. Lavey never actually worshiped Satan, per se. He was just a master showman and provocateur, who figured out that he could take elements of Ayn Rand and Robert Redbeard, use the word Satan, and immediately make money and score with California girls (he even admitted that this was his goal). Regardless of my opinions of his moral code (which is, in a great many ways, disgusting) or theology (which is essentially atheist), I will admit that his writings as a humorist were absolutely brilliant.

But, that does bring in one very important fact about both of these men. They succeeded because of, rather than in spite of, Christian indignation. Every protest or complaint will only rally their supporters, and get new people to listen to Manson's crap music. Heck, if city officials were to attempt to use political means to unjustly shut down any business venture from Manson, I would feel morally obligated to support him, despite my own personal distaste.

The best way to fight him is to ignore him. The claim of him opening a business in the area is complete fiction anyway.
