You don't understand that Fremont NE is a small town and people have jobs so they can't just run to every protest like your latrinos buddies do!

You know the abolitionists were also a minority- but they gained enough momentum to abolish slavery. Most correct and good ideas do start out being held by a minority of people.

Oh- and George W. called millions of people that protested the Iraq war a 'focus group' although that was clearly a majority! This ruling class (Obama included) is determined to carry out oppression and exploitation- its the basis for this system of capitalism.

As for the 150 people out fighting for immigrants to have basic human rights, props to you! I really want to find out if there's more protests scheduled, and what I could do to connect with people in freemont. If someone from the protest sees this, can you post some info? I'm from Seattle, but living in Omaha now...and missing progressive events, and radically minded people.

This ordinance would not affect immigrants. It is geared towards illegal aliens. There's a big difference. One group respects our immigration laws and sovereignty, the other is guilty of tax evasion, identity theft / fraud, driving without a valid license, registration, insurance etc...

Let them go rent an apartment back in their own country. This is hardly cruel and unsual punishment. Nobody's advocating that they be sentenced to a hard labor camp. Most Citizens / taxapyers are simply tired of the strain illegals place on the coffers.

Yeah!!!!! That's great news. Too bad it's not retroactive so all the illegals could be evicted and terminated from their jobs.

They might be able to make this retroactive and apply to any illegals now living in Fremont and working at the meat packing plants. Since the feds won't do anything about illegal immigration, the cities and states may have to take it upon themselves to do the governments job for them.

I hope you're right. Unless they can make this ordinance retroactive, it will really do little to contend with the illegals who are already living and working in Fremont. It's a sad state of affairs when it comes to the point where a little city in Nebraska has to take immigration matters into their own hands because the Feds refuse to enforce the laws and implement measures that will finally succeed in leaving illegals with no choice but to self deport.

if you dont protect your state from illegal aliens, then you deserve to be taken over by illegal aliens. they hold office in california. they have taken over most of the state. but there are about 32 million americans who still live in california who want these criminals out. its just a handfull of people who think they can dictate how things are going to be. mexicans in california know they are not liked by americans. the state of california is broke, becaus of illegal mexicans. obama is a trader and should eithere be shot or exiled. same with bush and the clintons. thgese people created the problems we have today and tomarrow.

Yeah, and our wonderful Anti American Civil Liberties Union is going to fight the ordinance. I really wonder why this socialist, anti American organization is allowed to exist

Think first...how did some of these illegal aliens end up in Fremont in the first place? Were some of them recruited and/or enticed by business owners looking for cheap labor who knew full well what they were doing? If so, what should be the consequences be for those who recruited them?

On top of that, these aliens who became low-wage workers had to pay social security taxes that they will never receive, and the profit their low wages bring to the owners goes somehow back into the economy in the form of spending.
