Good for them. The more opportunity we have in PA for those who travel to other states to gamble, the better it is for PA.

In 2004 slot machines were legalized as a way to cut taxes? What taxes? Where? When?

$50 million dollars. Think of what could be done with 50 million. I think we should remove "taxes" from our vocabulary!

You're so right Neil. I have been watching what they're doing here in Bethlehem. I can't imagine what will happen when the casino opens. We will find out soon what our beautiful city will turn in to.

Yeah! It will. By the way, they're called senior citizens and they're not the only people who gamble. I doubt very much if anyone will be able to afford to gamble with the economy the way it is.

I hope they have a Gamblers Anonymous in the area. There will be people who will try to hit the big one and lose everything.

Just think of this - more than 200 years ago, George Washington sits freezing in his Winter encampment at Valley Forge, worried about the condition of his frostbitten troops, and starts to think about the glorious future he and his men are fighting for.

And then Doc Brown from "Back To The Future" shows up and shows him the slot machines.

I think George would never stop throwing up.

Roddy- you have a good imagination. I can picture his car blasting into the water next to Washington. Then his white hair uncurls and he(GW) looks like Einstein when he sees the car next to him in the water........
OK Roddy, I'm getting carried away here. You're the writer for this movie.
Take care.

Yes, because the Steel Mill site was so beautiful to begin with. Perhaps it should have been left the way it was?

Geez another wealth transfer machine. Take gambling money from dumb people and transfer to casino owners with the government taking a cut out of the middle.

Remember when "new math" was in vogue? The above corollary ought to be called "new economics".

I remember as a child hearing the Steel mill noises and the fire coming out of the "stacks." They are going to have a Steel museum. Also, the Sands sign will be hung on the crane illuminating it. So some of the Steel history will be there.

Unfortunately, because of funding most of the "project" is on hold. The casino and the museum are the only 2 things that will be completed as of now. I don't know if you know this but there is a restaurant/bar(Riverport) that has been in full swing for awhile and there are condos that were completed. I don't think either of those has anything to do with The Sands, but they're on Steel land.
Take care
