I believe the city of Escondido is "chicken" in the sense of "expanding the tourism efforts and attractions" in this particular city--Escondido is boring and NEEDS money making and exciting attractions here----They need to stop being such CHEAPSKATES and REALLY put some large money into an attraction or two or even three ...to add job opportunities as well as increase REAL tourism--and not one good hotel here--what a shame! GET WITH THE PROGRAM, ESCONDIDO, already!

A water park is not what Escondido needs. Why not use your time and money to build up downtown and make it affordable to rent. Downtown is really boring no wonder it's a ghost town almost every nite. Wake up people.

Putting up a water park is not going to bring in tourism or money. Water parks are neither interesting nor profitable for anything other than the water park. Water parks work like this: you go in around noon and you go out looking like you just spent a day at the water park so you want to go home. If we want our homes to go up in value we need to bring in something unique and specific for the area and we ourselves need to put money into these things in order for anything to thrive.

I am against a water park. It will provide only minimum wage jobs, bring more traffic, potential crime and not to mention the consumption of a dwindling and scarce local resource, water. I think that if Escondido wants to generate better jobs, not low tech ones, like selling hot dogs and soda at a water park, it should seek out and attract high tech ones to their industrial park. High tech jobs from the aerospace, micro electronics, and medical device industries. A water park might grap some interest in the beginning and eventually close doen in 5-7 years and be an eyesore. Check out all the water parks that went belly up in other communities in the southwest.

If one comes to Escondido, I will not be a patron to it. If the noise from it gets too loud, I will have to move to avoid my real estate from going down.

If the logic about a water park is is so great (noise and traffic), then lets think even bigger and try to have someone build an airport in Escondido. Think of the noise, hotels, traffic, and all the other great things that Escondido residents can benefit from by living near an airport.

Think about it. Look into the failed water park attractions that failed in other cities.

Rock-a-Hoola Water Park - Baker, CA
in Defunct Amusement Parks

Long Description:
The water slides and attractions are now gone. The future of the waterpark and surrounding area is currently the subject of major discussion, debate, and rumor within the local community. Repeatedly vandalized, much of the park now sits in relative ruins. As of August 2009, there is little remaining of the waterpark. However, many believe that the park is still salvageable and some degree of hope nevertheless persists in the current owners, who are still trying to decide what to do with what remains of the site itself—as well as with the surrounding land on which the park resides.
