Cyber Harrassment

I am writing this letter because I want to raise public awareness about Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a crime. The exploitation of online technology for deviant purposes continues to be a problem as legislators provide guidance and direction to local and state authorities confronted with “cyberbullying”. The “Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act,” proposed by California Congresswoman, Linda T. Sanchez in May of 2008, amended Chapter 41 of title 18 of the U.S. Code which criminalizes cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is deliberate and hostile behavior and is not only a problem for our kids but is also a problem for adults as well. The National Crime Prevention Council's definition of cyber-bullying is, "when the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person”. Cyber harassment may occur by adult individuals posting rumors or gossip that instigate others to dislike and gang up on the target. by making them the subject of ridicule in forums, and posting false statements as fact while aimed at humiliation. I personally know someone who had a co-worker that use his pictures and name for an online dating site. Internet crimes can be reported to local authorities and can easily be reported to the FBI at www.ic3.gov . Now Now cowboy.. everyone makes a mistake typing... it could have been an accident not caught until after it was posted... happens to me all the time.... While alabama people are imbred and stupid like the ones who started the Jim Ingram topic...
