Vallejo has zero officers under the age of 30, and very few under the age of 35.

The department is seeking officers that plan on staying in the city. They don't want someone that is going to ride out their training time and leave. They are on top of it. Put your big girl panties on, dry your tears, hush your mouth, and have a little faith.
this is absolute bulloney! there is no way to obligate any employee to stay here, if something better for them comes up they will take it. and what is "on top of it"? we still don't have a clear picture of recruiting efforts, recruiting goals, staffing goals, etc. the police chief is supposed to report to council on staffing and recruiting. it remains to be seen when that will happen. and how about this notion of hiring cops that live here? any info on that? nope! all we have heard is this optimistic "going well" crap from keen, a department spokesperson, and several uninformed posters.

Doubtful that what you describe is problematic so it is a non-issue.

this thread is about replacing exiting officers, not staffing beyond that! we need to know what the plan is, what the budget will allow for(entry v. laterals), and when the new officers will be on the streets.
we should be taking that 3.2 mil from marti brown and putting police out there. we are getting whacked in parking lots, in our homes, on our streets. screw all these nice-to-haves, we MUST have more authority to slow down the steady two year increase in crime!!

The safety of the citizens is the number one priority of any municipal setting. In Vallejo it is not. This council stole your tax money to experiment with as you are reduced to be a potential victim, in your own home mind you, as a steady two year rise in crime continues. They will sit there and talk of how wonderful things are going yet the reality of what you see everyday does not reconcile. The only way to fight back is to not let the Gomers keep the majority in November.

we are at "grossly understaffed" now. so this effort will maintain the condition, not improve it.

Denial seems to be your defense these days. Chief Nicks legacy is a sad one. Screwed up morale and poor relations with the community. If you want to continue the charade go for it.

you're another one offering up that baloney about "relations with the community". what exactly does that do relative to criminal activity and police response, seriously, i just can't make the connection.
chief nic told you all crime and criminals will grow out of control when police are cut. you all howled "scare tactics for the union", yet here it is, exactly as he told you. the legacy is that the council ignored his expertise and watched it unfold, then stole over 3 million dollars to experiment as people plead for more police. that's legacy, of gomes and company, they own that.

How did he "screw up" morale? He couldn't put a happy face on the daily VIB attacks accusing the VPD of being greedy goons and thugs? Just because Pearsall and Sampayan were unhappy with him does not translate into dept wide dissatisfaction with chief Nic. How did he negatively affect morale? When he repeated to the council "cut all you want, we want to be paid". That drove morale down?

i am convinced the vib view of vpd and the chief was shaped by bitter rats pearsall and sampayan. where else would info about the inner works of the pd get to vib? from rats, there where it came from. rats.

Talk about being in a state of denial.

For years the Police Union was at war with the public. The negative view is well deserved. Dont try to pin it on Pearsall or Sampaya.. There are Vallejo cops still in the department who were opposed to what the Union did.

this is absolutely the biggest projection here. no union member ever had a beef with their pay and benefits. if they felt guilty about hosing the poor vallejo taxpayer, they could have went to a different department that was not screwing taxpayers, but they did not, they are still here you say, still hosing you? see how stupid you sound? probably not.

Nuts!! What the union did? The union did what it was supposed to do, not worry about how poor Vallejo would pay. Screw Vallejo, and anyone that thinks unions should care about taxpayers! Make some money and you won't cry so much. Oh, wait, Gomes and her crowd are against everything that comes to town. Oh, well.
Have a nice day, Bob Schussel, PHD!, in your private sector, lol.

When removing Binding Arbitration was being pushed by the Gomers in early 2010, we were assured it would "put more cops on the streets". And? So Marti Brown, should you be foolish enough to run for re-election, be prepared to address this lie you signed up to as an endorser, and tell us why we should trust you now, or ever again!
