A gun battle in the parking lot of a Vallejo bar left one security guard and at least one patron injured Friday night, police said Monday.

Vallejo police responded to George's Den on the 100 block of Maple Street at about 11 p.m. following a drive-by shooting apparently connected to an earlier altercation at the bar, Sgt. Jeff Bassett said.

Two uniformed All Phase Security guards hired to patrol the business told police that several males were asked to leave the property after confronting a guard inside the bar, Bassett said.

The confrontation allegedly continued outside, where one security guard shot pepper spray into the face of one of three males as they surrounded the guards and threatened to "sucker-punch" one of them, Bassett said. The males were described as either Hispanic or Pacific Islander, he added.

The 23-year-old bar patron underwent surgery at Walnut Creek's John Muir Medical Center after being shot in the back during a gun battle in the bar's parking lot, police said. At least two people were injured in the 11 p.m. shoot-out.

Witnesses said three men entered the bar that night and confronted the victim, a Vallejo resident, saying, "I heard you were looking for me," police clarified Tuesday. Police originally said the men initially approached a security guard, who was also shot in the leg.

Correction "Hayward" - The shooters were not Tongans, they were Hispanics and the victim was a Tongan. So get your story right before you start posting falsified statements up in here! Also, Georges Den is fine and any other bar in Vallejo, it just sucks when people who don't know how to act right shows up and kills all the fun!!
