yet another low income store for the savages. why does vallejo cater to them? is it because thats all there is in vallejo? is it because clowncil loves the free federal money given to them to support the freeloaders?
pure ignorance

"Wrong Again" your comment is pure ignorance. God does not like ugly. Your speaking down about a community that is beneficial to these so called low income stores. Vallejo isn't the only place that has a store with discount prices. NOBODY likes over paying for grocerys... Expect for you I guess

FoodMaxx is owned by the same company that was there before, Lucky's. That company is the one who decided to replace the standard Lucy's store with FoodMaxx which also operates in Fairfield, and a a lot of many other cities. Your disparing use of the "clowncil" and any involvement had absolutely nothing to do with this. "Wrong Again" is well named to describe that writer's abilities.

They took what was a beautiful store and turned it into an ugly, claustrophobic, dangerous death trap with all the entrances and exits blocked off except one and prices no different than when it was Lucky, but now with far less brand choices.

What an awful experience and an accident waiting to happen.

Don't believe me. Go see for yourself.

When I was growing up it was Valeragas in the Flemingtown center. We loved the field behind it. Spent hours there. Hell I spent a few nights there too! Ah, memories! Glad to see something in my neighborhood still going strong.

My mom just told me it used to be called the Louis store. That's before my time I guess.

Lucky and FoodMaxx brands are owned by Modesto-based "SaveMart" Supermarkets. Like any store in Vallejo it will have its following and in my opinion that is a good thing!

Lucky's, a local Bay Area business founded in 1931 (Piggly Wiggly) and in the 1960's/1970's included Gemco, a membership department store, was systematically destroyed first by Alpha Beta, then Albertson's, etc.(Dayton Hudson/Target/Federated Dept.Stores) The same people who bankrupted Mervyn’s!

The demise of many old time stores that were profitable can be attributed to new owners that sucked the life blood out of them and then discarded them.
The growing competition did not do them in, greed did!

They took what was once a beautiful bright and roomy supermarket, that was a stress free pleasure to shop in and turned it into a claustrophobic, shoe box like maze with all the entrances and exits blocked off except for one. The distance between the check out stands and the beginning of the aisles is dangerously insufficient and can not be navigated with a shopping cart because of the sea of people waiting on lines to pay. The prices are no different than when it was Lucky's but now there are far less brands to choose from. I went there to buy dog food and the brand I regularly bought there, before the conversion, is no longer being sold there. Similarly with many other brands. This place is now a dangerous death trap and an accident waiting to happen. I am not now nor have I ever been claustrophobic, but I felt like I couldn't wait to get out of there. Don't believe me. Go see for yourself! What a f@#k up!

I emailed the above comment to Save Mart (the parent company of Food Maxx and Lucky), to the attention of their corporate Vice President in charge of their Food Maxx division.
If I receive a response I will post it here.

I guess Save Mart company believes that poor people and people looking to save money will subject themselves to rat like behavior. They don't realize how humiliating it is to shop in that unpleasant environment.

they are minimizing the potential to be robbed. i don't blame them, in this town it is a consideration of store design.

I'd rather pay a few pennies more to shop in a store that isn't ruined by the presence of the low-class trash; I'll stick to Raleys.

It's what U make of the environment in which U find urself! U want xtras, then U pay 4 them; I find that even shopping 4 1 their is very easy, I just can't 'bag' as fast/good but have learned how to appreciate what's 'there' and enhance my experience... Sorry U have such a dark cloud over urself...

Nah, the dark cloud is over what is now a a ghetto appeal market. If that's what you like and feel comfortable in, then go for it. I consider myself as a more discriminating shopper and demand more for my time and patronage.

That's my new favorite, ridiculous liberal mantra. If you don't like living and shopping in filthy ghetto conditions, then there must be something wrong with YOU. You must have a mean, hateful soul. They've given up on their hope and change and are on to the next nonsensical line of BS.
