Who should Keen be answering to?
http://www.timesheraldonline.com/letters/ci_2...

The question was asked by myself and another public speaker at the Jan. 8 Vallejo City Council meeting, to City Manager Keen, concerning information circulating claiming the amount of applicants to become a Vallejo police officer had fallen far short of expectations. Keen had an opportunity to answer the question at the end of the meeting during the "City Manager's Report" portion of the meeting.

He remained silent on the issue.

But Mr. Keen has made the answer available in a detailed response to VIB Editor Marc Garman's email to him -- posted on the VIB web site -- asking the same question.

Since when does VIB and Garman, who I see as being synonymous with hatred of VPD and responsible for creating low morale within its membership, while driving a wedge into our community, given exclusive preference instead of the citizens of Vallejo?

Regardless of what you think of the author, the City Manager, who we pay BIG MONEY, either is insufficiently informed(a terminal offence in my book) as to crucial police staffing issues, or was told to not comment. Besides the author and another well pummeled object of Garman/VIB loyalists, two frightened women residents pleaded for more police officers. I will not accept that Keen simply did not know that more police officers are in process, his staff DID know at close of business Dec. 17th that we received 162 applications for the 5 officer recruitment. I have every reason to believe that Stephanie Gomes and her majority underlie Keen's appearance of ignorance or worse, directed silence("Hi Marc").
Keen is safe for now in his job as long as he plays ball with Gomes and her crowd. We haven't forgotten the time her husband, Tony Pearsall, and his majority friends unceremoniously fired City Manager Roger Kemp, after taking a junket on our dime with his good pal Tony Intintoli to the east coast to interview Kemp, came back here gushing about how wonderful he was going to be for Vallejo, then fired him.
Gomes and her crowd as a dangerous and manipulative a group as any other they denounce as "good old boys" out for themselves. These people have THEIR own agenda as well, and contrary to repeated assertions, it DOES NOT involve all of us.

i agree that keen is responsive only to what gomes wants. osby davis may as well put his feet up on the desk and read magazines. if he did not know the status of applicants for work in his own company, he should be fired. on the other hand, had he given the status as comment to citizen concerns, or even at his report at the end, he would have been fired, like kemp. it's more than sam kurshan outraged at his demonstration of incompetence last week.

Blah blah blah. Blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah. You forgot to tell the part were you lied. Next time instead of grand standing and repeating what you heard on topix, just say you don't know the answer and ask a question. Now isn't that simple? Or better yet, instead of growling and sneering, try listening to what staff is saying. They told everyone that the hiring process was moving forward. I heard it on several occasions. And certainly stop with the fear mongering. The two women had met with the Chief and I'm sure he told them that people had applied and the city was hiring for the positions that were open. They didn't parrot your misinformed position nor did they point their fingers. They simply asked for more police.

This has all the making of an assault on the City Manager as an overpaid dunce, or submissive puppet. Let Gomes tell us that it was OK for him not to know what the heck is going on in HR regarding hiring of police officers. How many of you had to read the memo more than once to recall the data?

"if" and speculative "i'm sure" regarding top tier information is not in keeping with what we thought was a new majority of open government and transparency. but keep trying to insult us, we are here to stay as well, and there are more of us than you rats. schivley=gone, intintoli=gone, brown=next.

Thank you for writing this letter sam. It will finally give insight to the fact that it was never about providing information, it was about who it was provided to, the news website that you hate. Never mind that it only took a simple email inquiry. If desiminating the information had been your focus, you should be glad the information was out instead of focusing on the fact that it wasn't provided to you.

But it's now very clear that by making the information available, it ruined your "it's Gomes fault" battle cry.

Maybe Keen didnt like your offensive odors or maybe he needed to get the numbers .You are an arse for thinking that the reason IBVallejo.Com got a response was due to Gomes. Did it ever occur to
you that Keens would have answered you also if you had called his office or wrote him a letter.

Here's a free clue. If you want information, ask a question. It was one of your suggestions that VIB should go after the information. So now that they did and it was published, you seemed to have forgotten the your supposed initial concern, the number of applicants. The supposed concern over the number of applicants has gone by the wayside.

Now you are obsessed with creating the Gomes/Keen conspiracy.

Meanwhile we will be moving forward. I for one am pleased to know that we have so many people willing to be hired by the City of Vallejo. Especially within the police department.

Sam you never asked a question. You took a position and repeated some gossip. You and your sidekick never asked a question. It would make sense if Gomes asked to have the information released. She has been the one those two chest beating idiots have tried to place the blame on for their lies. But it seems like the most logical answer is that somebody did ask (VIB) and the answer was provided. That ends the speculation and assures the citizens that we have people applying. Isn't that what this is all about?

how can you possibly assert we are moving forward in the face of a steady year to year rise in crime? i heard the police chief say that, maybe you missed it or choose to deny it.
to move forward, we have to arrest the crime trends. yes it's good that there are new officers available, but my question, and that of plenty of others, is when did dan keen know this? only after garman asked and he went to a subordinate to find out? crazy! the political manipulation of dan keen is in play, imo, here again rooted in another stephanie gomes bitter vindictive war, on sam kurshan now, and it is not good for any of us.

"It would make sense if Gomes asked to have the information released"? absolutely wrong! the city (manager) has failed it's charge to keep the citizens abreast of vital information, especially in the area of public safety. we are under siege by the criminals of the bay area, just like chief nichelini told us would happen, the reason why chief kreins wants up to 30 new officers! to hell with gomes and her personal beefs with vpoa and sam kurshan!!
