Flu season about to hit Solano County, health officials urge vaccine shots
Like a wind blowing across the country, a particularly nasty flu season is about to hit Solano County and the rest of the Bay Area.
"It's becoming a severe flu season," said Michael Stacey, Solano County deputy health officer and chief medical officer. "It's coming soon, and will probably be here within a few weeks," he said.
Health officials say California is seeing more flu cases, but the increase is not unexpected. So far, there have been no reported widespread vaccine shortages and officials, including Stacey, urge residents to get inoculated.
There have, however, been some instances of temporary shortages at Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center, a spokeswoman said Friday.
The state typically experiences a surge in flu activity in late December or early January, with illnesses peaking in February or March.
The predominant circulating flu strain -- influenza A H3N2 -- has filled doctors' offices and sent scores of people home in East Coast and Midwestern states.
Flu was widespread in 47 states last week, up from 41 the week before, a representative of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.
Officials said the main strain of the virus circulating tends to make people sicker than usual while Stacey cited the following symptoms -- high fever, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, cough and congestion.

Flu shots and the hype surrounding this illness are a hundred percent scam perpetrated by drug companies who sell their "vacines" to a stupid populace. There is no way to predict each year's new strains and no vacine has EVER matched them. A fraud is easily committed against an uninformed population; read a book on the subject and understand why and how this insult is bought and sold to a tv-watching nation who only "know" what they are told. "Flu shots"; what a joke.

Got our boy his first flu shot this year. Kaiser strongly recomended it. He got so sick. Wicked stomach flu followed by terrible chest flu. Thanx Doc.
