Declaring a Fiscal emergency waives the 60-90 day creditor mediaton allowing them to enter bankruptcy immediately. Scare tactics? Was that why your old bought and paid for council majority voted for BK? Ozz the lawyer didn't know this was a scare tactic? Your Mayor sure is dumb.
Studying all the little details SillyAss? Good, that way when Vallejo needs to re-file for bankruptcy because they can't amend the contract due to the grandiose screw-up on the deadline, they can just ask you for advice. LOL And you think just the Mayor is dumb. LOL

ORLY? Why then is the CM of Stockton looking to enter into the mediation process immediately?
"Deis also wants council approval to begin a 60-day mediation period that puts Stockton at the table in confidential negotiations with major bond holders, union officials and a representative of retired employees."
And, JD, here's the linky of the facts, so you can drop your uninformed BS, although you have never let facts get in your way before.

Pension envy!
OBTW, thanks to another dunderheaded move by the city, the pockets of police will continue to stay well-lined with YOUR money. Vallejo's problem is not enough taxpayers, too many entitlement classes and system gamers, some of your friends included.

Do you just pull this stuff out of your backside? This article clearly states Stockton will renew it fiscal emergency status for a third straight year and then begin the mediation process. You say fiscal emergency waives the mediation. You're freaking nuts, I swear!

Are you folks still angry that your bought and paid for council of the past voted unanimously for bankruptcy? Its hard to defend your Mayor...like it or not between your hate for the citizens of Vallejo and the blunders from City staff I suspect that the new council majority will expand in the coming elections. Oh yeah you wanted links?

" This bill would prohibit a local public entity from filing under
federal bankruptcy law unless the local public entity has
participated in a specified neutral evaluation process with
interested parties, as defined, or the local public entity has
declared a fiscal emergency and has adopted a resolution by a
majority vote of the governing board at a noticed public hearing that
includes findings that the financial state of the local public
entity jeopardizes the health, safety, or well-being of the residents
of the local public entity's jurisdiction or service area absent
bankruptcy protections."

i see mr. levinson is advising stockton to stay away from bankruptcy. i believe the city of stockton will heed his advice, unlike us.("Bankruptcy expands the costs 10 times, Levinson said.") so why would anyone with at least half a brain advocate for bankruptcy? is that what mr. miller says stockton should do anyway? no wonder everyone ignores him.

In short that mediation is not binding when Stockton declares a state of fiscal emergency. What a tough pill for their PSU's to swallow...the city has the option at ANY time after the fiscal emergency declaration to declare bankruptcy. You boys just hate it when things are not binding don't you?:=)

We should be seeing huge concessions from the previously unwilling Stockton Police Union in order for Stockton to avoid Vallejo's fate. Let's hope their union has better sense than our knuckleheaded VPOA that wouldn't give us the concessions we needed.

mr. miller, the article in the stockton paper says they will declare a fiscal emergency and then enter the mediation process. is that wrong? maybe you should fire off an email to the stockton city manager?

Not wrong, just not binding...is that too difficult a concept for PSU's to comprehend? If mediation will give the Stockton unions a chance to provide huge concessions to avert bankruptcy. If they do not the city is free to file...no waiting. This is a very important moment for Stockton, will their unions be pigheaded like Vallejo's and force the City into banckruptcy?

That is exactly what has happened and to further my example the union is playing pighead again by using a obscure clause on their old contract to avoid coming to the table......

Hopefully, Stockton does not have a loud activist group that will poison the well before and during labor negotiations.

How many suspects did you boys apprehend around that embarassing incident around the house fire around Springs road? So for six suspects eluded VPD... criminals 6...VPD 0

What kind of talk? You mean this kind of talk? "cut as much police as you want..we want to be paid"...I am sure Hannigan, Davis and Sunga would attend that dinner..with the VPOA and other Vallejo haters. Every time you boys open your mouths you win union support...at the expense of losing the support of Vallejo voters... if your losses in the last election are any indicator...now who is enraged?
its still you jd

why should the police be enraged? you can't touch them this year, lol! what about all the "coming after you in 2012" t-shirts that were printed up for the big dinner?

And how the mighty will fall.. do you really expect that by delaying the inevitable and acting like pigheads that your cause will improve? The old cops are selling out the young cops so they can hold out one more year and collect lavish retirements at the expense of younger cops.....now you boys were asking us what electorate was dumb? Vallejo has rejected you guys..when will the VPOA reject Matt and the other greedy Vallejo hating elders?
