Resident input sought on Vallejo community improvement projects http://www.timesheraldonline.com/news/ci_2228...
As Vallejo looks to draw up community improvement projects for the next two years, it is inviting the public to weigh in on them.
The Vallejo Housing and Redevelopment Commission meets at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 555 Santa Clara St. to discuss the issue, which could involve up to $600,000 a year.
The federal Community Development Block Grant program is designed for neighborhood revitalization and public improvements in established Neighborhood Preservation Areas, CDBG Target Areas, for code enforcement and economic development.
The deadline to submit written project funding requests is noon Jan. 11 at the Housing and Community Development Division, 200 Georgia St.
As of last week, the division had received two funding requests. One was from the
Vallejo Code Enforcement Division to help pay a portion of a code officer's salary to due targeted attention to blight and quality of life issues.
The other was a request for sidewalk, tree and water main improvements in the Vallejo Heights neighborhood, per the request of the Hillcrest Park Homeowners Association.
Earlier in Thursday's meeting, the National Development Council also will give a presentation on the Grow Vallejo Fund Program to the Commission.
