The Vallejo City Council sat in stony silence during the public comment opportunity of the January 8 meeting. Citizens representing one of the numerous neighborhood watch groups in the city expressed fear of living in their own neighborhoods, showing a lot map chart indicating the numerous home and auto break-ins in just a 7 block area, and told of half hour waits for a police response while a crime was in progress. They pleaded for the council to prioritize public safety and defer funds allocated for various community image upgrades, asserting that image improvements will only come when the city is secured from a steady rise in crime as more police officers are retiring and not being replaced.
Other citizens questioned the success of a recruiting effort to secure 5 police officers that was approved late last year, opened and closed with no word from city leaders as to the success of the recruitment effort. One citizen asked if it were true only two police officers responded to the 5 officer call. The City Manager had no comment as did all 7 council members.
Some citizens assert that the failed recruiting effort is factual and being sheltered by city leaders for unknown reasons. Others assert that the recruiting effort itself was flawed, citing "poorly written" job announcement, while others contend the pledge to "come after" the police union by a council member is the root cause of the absence of interest from the police profession.
Recent recruiting efforts in Oakland and the California Highway Patrol saw thousands of applicants, yet Vallejo appears to have attracted the interest of only two officers.
Newly hired Police Chief Joseph Kreins is scheduled to address the council at a later date with regard to recruiting and re-staffing the grossly understaffed Police Department.

A governing body generally does not respond during public comment. This new chief will not put up with the council very long.
Vallejo may soon end up like the twin rivers polce department. Nobody will want to take command because of the games played by the elected officials.....

On another note: heard same rumor again... Bratton will bring Nichelini to Oakland as chief for 6 months.

gomes has never been shy about piping up to refute citizen comments and davis has always let her chime in even after once admonishing the council that they are not to respond, but can ask questions, to get more information. surely the city manager could have confirmed or denied the concerns of worel and kurshan. they run a loose show with rules tossed or observed as necessary. last night it was necessary for them all to just remain silent, which spoke volumes to us. we have a serious problem they are containing from official comment.

looks like the school district is awash with junior thugs and our city is under siege from they male parent. according to a post at another site, the district spokesperson is suggesting the bullying is not happening.
"where the evidence?",
"right here!"
"i gots to look into it".
good god, is this a dream?!

Here's an idea. Gomes resigns for her role in creating an atmosphere of acrimony in labor relations, especially now. If she truly loved her city, she would do that(guffaws).
The 3.2 mil in Marti Brown's experimental toy box is redirected to Chief Kreins' efforts in recruiting/restaffing the Police Department.
A public safety friendly council majority MAY inspire concessions from VPOA in working with the Chief.
The new contract must be longer than two years.
As Burky Worel told you last night, there used to be a waiting list to work here. Not anymore.
Ya'll wanted a war, so you have to ask yourself, are you winning it?
No laughing anymore from me, the young mother pleading for help was something I will never forget, and you council rats just told her "Thank you, next speaker"?

I watched he video and the plees of two women one a neighborhood watch big wig and she spoke of more than a dozen robberies and I couldn't help but remember sammie and other fighting back haters at the time stating that when Pearsall and his friendsw are gone that fighting back would all of a sudden be a great organzation. Clearly it has gotten much worse under the watch of the new leadership and the commentary last night is indicative that the mob of Erin Hannigan, John Allen, sammie and others that wanted a leadership change have failed to provide the same excellent service of those under Pearsall and Sampayan.

I guess even though getting paid the new leadership of Fighting Back Partnership is a failure as explained by these ladies complaining of robberies around the neighborhood watch program. Shame on you Hannigan, Allen and of course always shame on sammie who can only envision tearing down a system with no plan to make it function serving the community.

BIOYA. Kurshan did not get them out.
Pearsall disgraced himself out of the job and Sampayan left because the money to pay him dried up and he can't stand on his own feet becaus he is a Pearsall/Gomes puppet.

F@#K beautification. Take the entire measure B monies and use it to hire cops!

wow! sammie got them booted? wow! who knew?! didn't sappyman send out an email at vib telling the watchers tony and he were going to start their own non-profit to continue "their" program. how many times have we heard here how they started it and somebody else was trying to take credit? well, anyway, sappy turned out to be full of shidt and tony got the bracelets and a ride in the back seat of a crown vic. now sappy isn't doing a freaking thing for the watchers because HE WANTS TO BE PAID TOO! ain't that somethin'?!

So the folks that made the neighborhood watch protection (Pearsall and Sampayan) are gone..what are you guys going to do to fill their shoes and make the neighborhood watch prgram as successful as it was under Pearsall and Sampayan?
