Hawke Fan...

Because He is the one who has real medical experience... not just a body hauler like Watson.

Terry Hawker has worked in the medical field for years. Wilbur M. "Bill" Watson has just hauled bodies for funeral homes.. big difference.

Terry Hawke has made it own his own.
Watson has made it by being Ashley Paulk's brother-in-law. Need we draw a line for the money trail?

Vote for the candidate who has the real medical experience and isn't just playing politics..

Vote Terry Hawke.

WATSON OR HAWKE FOR CORONER:
I WISH TO RESPOND TO BUZZLIGHTYEAR'S POLITICAL COMMENTS ABOUT THESE 2 CANDIDATES.
TO START WITH I AM NOT GOING TO CRITISIZE TERRY
HAWKE ON HIS CREDENTIALS I THINK BOTH MEN ARE DULY QUALIFIED TO BE CORONER. BOTH MEN HAVE BEEN DEPUTY CORONER UNDER WALTER WACTER FOR SOMETIME NOW. BOTH HAVE ATTENDED ALL THE REQUIRED COURSES
AT THE TRAINING SCHOOL IN FORSYTH. BUT I DO THINK
W,M,"BILL" WATSON IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR CORONER
BECAUSE HE CARES FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS PASSED AND ALSO TALKS TO ANY FAMILY MEMBERS INVOLVED IN A DIGNIFIED MANNER.AS FOR HIM SUPPOSEDLY RUNNING ON THE SHIRT TALES OF ASHLEY PAULK, I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT MR. WATSON HASN'T
EVEN TALKED TO MR. PAULK ABOUT HIS CAMPAIGN. HE IS MR. PAULK'S BROTHER-IN-LAW BUT ONLY THRU THE FACT HIS MOTHER MARRIED MRS. PAULKS FATHER. IF YOU WANT TO ELECT THRU ASSOCIATION THEN MAYBE WE NEED TO SEE WHO MR. HAWKE IS ASSOCIATED WITH AND CHECK HIS FAMILY HISTORY. I DON'T KNOW WHO BUZZLIGHTYEAR IS AND DON'T CARE BUT IF SOMEONE
WITES A LETTER AND DOESN'T SIGN HIS NAME THEN I ALSO CAN NOT IN GOOD CONCIENCE GIVE THAT PERSON MUCH CREDIT IN WHAT HE SAYS.

I have known Mr Watson for several years. He is one of the finest men I Have ever known. He is very caring and compassionate. He has deep respect for all the people he deals with. I sincerely hope all who suffer the death of loved
ones come into Mr. Watsons care. It is more than just hauling bodies. It is dealing with families at the most difficult time of their lives.I for one, knowing Mr. Watson as i do, am going to cast my vote for him. Joaane Brown

Mr. Brown and Mrs. Brown, I posed the original question and I am a neutral in this contest.

I have merely asked for input regarding these two candidates. Opinions, such as yours, are helpful in my consideration of these two candidates.

The more details we have about all candidates the better our community will be served. Does your candidate have a website? If not, that would be helpful. Thank you.

BUZZ: MR. WATSON DOES NOT HAVE A WEB SIGHT. I AM SURE THAT IF YOU WRITE A QUESTION ON THIS PAGE HE WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER IT.AND IF I WERE YOU I WOULD ASK THE SAME QUESTION OF BOTH CANDIDATES, TO COMPARE THE APPLES AND ORANGES SO TO SPEAK. I AM HAPPY TO SEE SOMEONE IS INTERESTED IN THIS RACE ON THIS PAGE. RICHARD BROWN

Mr Lightyear (who chooses not use his real name), As you pointed out, Mr Hawke has medical training but not the experience in dealing with death and families. Mr Watson has the experience and compassion to deal with families when they have lost a loved one. As he pointed out at the forum in Lake Park, when the Coroner is called it is too late for medical experience to help. The duties of coroner need to be known also! The coroner only determines if it is a natual death or if there are circumstances that merit futher investigation. Learn before you speak and accuse! Bill Watson has my vote!

It seems to me that the candidates need to be familiar with technology.

You can call me Buzz. If there is no website, the candidate is probably not going to be able to supervise the office using the now commonplace technology.

I would like to see the supporters of each candidate post the distinguishing characteristics and qualifications that would persuade those of us who will vote to believe in your candidate.

Terry Hawke has worked in the medical field and has to deal with BOTH the living and those who are dying. Both the families of the living and those of the dead.

Terry Hawke, as pointed out in an earlier post, has worked under Walter Wacter as a deputy Coroner and in this post has had to deal with the families of the dead. In this position he has been both professional and courteous.

I speak from my past experience from dealing with Terry Hawke in real life in a critical care emergency crisis. I have also spoke to Walter Wacter who has seen him out in the field.

I have also met Mr. Watson. I guess I just don't put much faith in a guy who started out hauling bodies for funeral homes, saw there was money to be made in it so he even upgraded and bought his own hearse (parked in his front yard) to expand the business, and then decided that wasn't enough so he wants to be Lowndes County Coroner.

Don't you think Terry Hawke who actually has a REAL medical background will be more qualified for the job? It takes more than a SMOOTH talker to be a good County Coroner. While Watson can talk a good game when it comes down to it, I want a person who is medically qualified and can give me a real medical answer when the chips are down in regard to my loved one.

So vote with for the best qualified candidate and not just for the best talker. This will be the best for Lowndes County and for your loved ones in the long run.

By the way, when I say best qualified I mean a person who has a true medical background.

Terry Hawke has had years of REAL medical training on REAL live people which makes him more qualified to know how to deal with dead people. You have to know basic physical anatomy and diseases to be able to diagnose what happened and be a good County Coroner.

Terry Hawke will be able to take the YEARS of experience that he has working with real LIVE people and use that plus his time as a deputy coroner to be an outstanding Head coroner of Lowndes County.

Don't be fooled by a smooth talker. Vote for someone who has the medical background and knows how to treat our loved ones in life and death.

Vote Terry Hawke.

What does "real medical training" mean? Nurse, M.D., D.O., D.C., LPN, et cetera. Does his opponent have any medical training? Thanks.

We just wanted to put our two cents worth in here. We know both of these men very well. They are both upstanding, honorable men.

Hawke Fan, we understand your support of Terry because he is a good guy and would be a very good Coroner. However, as well as we know Terry, he would be disappointed and upset at the "stabs" you have taken at Bill. Both men want to run a fair campaign with no mud slinging. Both men have a desire to serve their community. Both men are qualified for this position as they both have served as deputy coroners. Lets please keep this campaign clean and leave the mud-slinging to the liberals. If you're truly a Hawke fan you wouldn't be making the comments you're making, because, honestly, you're doing more harm than good for your candidate of choice.

TO HAWKE FAN AND BUZZ:

FIRST LET ME MAKE MYSELF PERFECTLY CLEAR IN THIS MATTER. NEITHER OF YOU HAS SIGNED YOUR REAL NAME SO I DON'T KNOW IF I'M ANSWERING MR. HAWKE OR ONE OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS AND REALLY DON'T CARE. I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT MR. WATSON IS NOT GOING TO GET INTO THIS MESS OF CRITISIZING HIS OPPONENT ABOUT HIS CREDENTIALS AS A PARAMEDIC WORKING AT SGMC. I WILL SAY TIS AS FOR MYSELF IF YOUR HAVING BAD MEDICAL PROBLEMS AND NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY AT YOUR HOUSE THEN BY ALL MEANS CALL AN EMT. UNDER GEORGIA LAW MR. WATSON AND MR. HAWKE Have HAD EXTENSIVE TRAINING AT THE TRAINING CENTER IN FORSYTH,GA.
MR. WACTER AND HIS PREDECESSOR MR. EXUM DID NOT HAVE ANY MEDICAL DEGREES NOR WERE THEY EMTS.IN THE STATE OF GA. IT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT. SO LETS GET OFF THIS PART OF THE DIGGING. WHEN THE CORONER IS CALLED IN ITS TOO LATE FOR EMTS NURSES OR DOCTORS. THEY INVESTIGATE THE SCENE AND MAKE A DETERMINATION AS TO HOW THE PERSON DIED.MR. WATSON HAS HAD THE PROPER TRAINING AT FORSYTH TO DO THIS. THE BLOG SAYING THAT MR. WATSON IS JUST A BODY HAULER IS VERY INSULTING. SOMEONE HAS TO DO IT. AND FOR THAT MATTER WHEN MR. HAWKE GOES ON AN EMT CALL THATS EXACTLY WHAT HE IS.THESE STATEMENTS MADE HERE ARE VERY INAPROPRIATE AND UN CALLED FOR. EACH PERSON HAS A JOB TO DO AND IF PEOPLE THINK THE FUNERAL HOMES MAKE ALL THEIR PICKUPS THEN THEY DON'T KNOW THE FUNERAL BUSINESS.EACH TOWN HAS WHAT IS CALLED IN THE FUNERAL BUSINESS "MORTUARY REMOVAL SERVICE". ALL FUNERAL HOMES USE THEM.YES MR. HAWKE HAS 17 YRS AS A PARAMEDIC. BUT WHEN A PERSON DIES HIS JOB IS OVER.
SORRY FOLKS JUST NEEDED TO GET A FEW THINGS OFF MY CHEST. I HATE MESSY POLITICS AS WELL AS MR. WATSON BUT I CAN EXPRESS MYSELF IN A WAY THAT ANYONE CAN UNDERSTAND IT. VOTE AND I HOPE YOU VOTE FOR MR.WATSON. IN MY OPINION HE IS THE BETTER MAN FOR THE JOB.

Mr watson has been in bussiness for himself and it is doing well. He knows what budgets are and Watson is a good bussiness head. Just another part of the job of coroner. Mr Watson is also a deputy coroner.

I asked a few questions because there were comments about medical training and I really do not know all of the particulars for this particular position.

I presume the coroner is responsible for managing any investigation and an autopsy would be conducted by a medical doctor, and not the coroner.

I have never met either of these candidates and I remain neutral, though I will vote in this election as I regularly do. I like to be an informed voter and look forward to meeting both candidates in the future.

Dear Buzz:

While it is true that an autopsy would be conducted by a medical doctor (if needed), the original investigation would be done by the Lowndes County Coroner.

Now, while both men have been through basic training sometimes it takes more. It has been pointed out in earlier posts that Mr. Watson has extensive experience from working with local funeral homes and as a deputy coroner. On the other hand, Mr. Hawke has extensive experience as a Paramedic and as a deputy coroner.

Now, I know that extensive training as a paramedic may seem an odd jumping off point as a start for county coroner but think of it this way.. what better way to serve the dead than by helping the living. You have to have a superior knowledge of anatomy and physiology to diagnose and treat the living in a time of sickness and crisis. You become adept at learning diseases and accident, trauma, patterns. All of these things are a strong part of what is used in the daily job of a county coroner.

Not knocking what Mr. Watson does for a living, but he has not had this kind of real hands on experience and therefore can not translate it to the best needs of Lowndes County in the position of the coroner.

You have to be truely experienced in anatomy, physioloy, diseases, and dealing with both the dead and the Living to be a great coroner.

Gone are the days when the coroner just drove up, walked into a room and took a look and made a semi-educated guess as to a cause of death. These days you have to have someone who is well trained, certified, and up-to-date on all of the state mandates.

So please, vote for someone who has the medical background and training. Please vote Terry Hawke.

DID ANYONE KNOW THAT WHEN THE CORONER MAKES A CALL AS TO WHETHER AN AUTOPSY IS TO BE DONE OR NOT,THAT IT IS NOT HIS FINAL DECISION TO MAKE. IT IS USUALLY UP TO THE MEDICAL EXAMINER. AND AS I STATED BEFORE THE 2 PREVIOUS CORONERS HAVE NO MEDICAL BACKGROUNDS. DEGREES ARE GOOD IF YOU WORK IN THE FIELD THAT HELPS. ALSO IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE CORONERS IN THE 5 SURROUNDING COUNTIES DON'T HAVE MEDICAL OR PARAMEDIC EXPERIENCE IN FACT MOST OF THEM ARE FUNERAL DIRECTORS. BUZZ IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE ACTS OF CORONERS, GO TO "GEORGIA CORONERS ASSOCIATION" AND KEY ON "TITLE 45". VOTE W.M."BILL" WATSON NOVEMBER 4TH THANK YOU

I READ GEORGIA CORONER'S ASSOCIATION TITLE 45 AS RICHARD BROWN SUGGESTED. HAWKE FAN HAS THE MEDICAL EXAMINER'S POSITION AND THE CORONER'S POSITON CONFUSSED. MR HAWKE IS NOT QUALIFIED TO BE MEDICAL EXAMINER BECAUSE HE IS NOT A DOCTOR OR PATHOLOGIST AND ONLY THEY CAN PREFORM AN AUTOPSY TO DERTERMINE A CAUSE OF DEATH. THIS IS A RACE FOR CORONER.
