— VALDOSTA — The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office welcomed back a veteran officer Wednesday.

Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said that Roy Hart completed his first few days back with the sheriff’s office as a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division.

“We are glad to be getting a good man back with some great experience,” Prine said.“We are trying to work as a team here at the sheriff’s office and Roy Hart seems like a team player who will work well.”

Hart had previously worked as a detective with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office before he was dismissed a few years ago. He was a sergeant at the time. Since then, Hart has served as a captain with the Quitman Police Department.
Last year, Hart ran against Prine, Freddie Taylor and former LCSO Capt. J.D. Yeager in the race for Lowndes County sheriff. He was defeated in the primary election.

Prine said that Hart was interviewed by an administrative panel at the sheriff’s office before his rehire. A complete background investigation was also conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. In addition, Prine said he received a satisfactory report on Hart’s performance at the Quitman Police Department by Quitman Police Chief Wesley Ross.

Prine said that contrary to several rumors, Hart passed a polygraph test he was given before the rehiring process could be completed.

“I feel very confident in what Mr. Hart will contribute to the sheriff’s office,” Prine said.“I am just pleased to welcome him back.”

And he passed the poly. after HOW many tries? Anyone remember why Hart was fired? And wonder WHY he was re-hired? Do you really think the black community voted for Prine because they LIKED him? Please, don't bet the farm! I would almost bet the investigating team resembled the old duo of FBI agents, Fumble and Bumble from several years ago. Hart's re-hiring has been in the making since BEFORE Prine was elected, and he wasn't that good of an investigator before. Quitman didn't have much of a pool to promote from.

If you want to talk about re-hires....

you might just comment on Terry Griffin and Robert Bair who had their picture on the front of the VDT recently.

Terry Griffin was let go from the LCSO after an incident with his dog and then re-hired.

Robert Bair wss fired in that same incident as Roy Hart and then re-hired.

Let's hear your tune now... Oh Scooby Doo

After reading many months of back and forth on various individuals on the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department, it appears there are few saints and a great many with checkered pasts in that department. This entire ordeal has blackened the eye of the entire department in the perspective of the public and this is a shame.

Only ONE person in the incident with Hart pulled a KNIFE and threatened to cut off the privates of a minor. Tommy Crews was also given the opportunity to resign under Carter and re-hired by Ashley. In the words of A.P.: Tommy got s@#*w#d. So, let the punishment fit the crime: what Roy did was WRONG! He sholdn't be allowed to work in law enforcement anywhere.

So if Ashley Paulk says something if must be the word of God? Get Real!

That situation with the minor happened under Ashley Paulk and J.D. Yeagers watch and they BOTH knew exactly what was going on in that room. Don't let them try and fool you into thinking that they didn't.

You are sadly mistaken. They were NOT in the room, were not even listening. And it doesn't matter, they would not have condoned it if they had known what he was going to do. No, just because Ashley says it doesn't make it true or right. Just the fact that it was witnessed, AND Hart admitted it makes it TRUE! At least when Ashley or Jimmie Don did an interview for the news they could talk without stumbling over their words. Mayb ewe won't have much news-worthy events in the next 4 years, so Chris won't have to speak publicly and embarrase the co.

Find peace in your hearts and move on people.

This enemy-centered behavior is harming your souls.

In this world, there will be those persons who will not like us, those who like to chew on a bone, those who enjoy bullying others, et cetera. Don't feed their neurosis!

Life is too short to dwell on the negative emotions generated by our reactions to the often rude behavior of others.

Some folks live to generate pain in others and to stoke the fires of hatred. We call those folks many names, including sociopaths. You will never convince them or heal them so it is best to stay away from them. Protect and heal yourself!

What would folks say about the officials of Valdosa after reading the comments on Topix? Would anyone want to relocate here? You decide.

You know Chris had a campaign dept to pay. He made a promise, and for ONCE he lept it. Of course, he didn't want the black community to be on his back. Also, no one under Ashley would EVER have hired him back, because they know what he did!

Everything you write may be true. Breathe deeply, forgive others, and follow the Golden Rule. Sociopaths love to create anger in others, so don't let folks rile you. Peace.

You are right. It is sometimes too easy to be drawn into drama because you can see the truth, and some others can't.

No, others have their own perceptions of the truth and worse, you will never change the opinions of others in this forum so give up on that idea. The sociopaths feed on causing others pain so avoid wasting energy in this forum. Strongly held opinions are seldom changed by logic. Move on for your own health.... This too shall pass....
