Is the Lanier County High Sheriff really planning to sue the county over his budget?

Yes he is! Heard it come right out of his own mouth last month.

All this is at the taxpayers expense. He wants the county to hire his hand picked attorney. He even told a county clerk that HE DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE COUNTY TAXPAYER.

The Lanier County Sheriff, see only the Fulton County Sheriff is called the HIGH Sheriff cause Atlanta is there, has no grounds to sue the County. They provide his budget so it is up to them what they give, Nick Norton is as dumb as the attorney he has representing him if he thinks he has a lawsuit.

$37,000 plus for a truck. Come on folks, it is time to get real.

There is no such thing is GA as the "high sheriff". The Fulton County Sheriff has the same powers as the Lanier County Sheriff.

First of all, Norton isnt the first sheriff to sue his commissioners for funding. In most instances the Sheriff looses these suits. The GA constitution requires the commission to adequately fund the Sheriff's office. Adequately has been defined by the GA supreme court as pretty bare minimum.

Counties like Lowndes have found that when you seize cars and money from drug dealers the Sheriff's office can keep that money and use it to purchase equipment, guns, cars, jails, etc. Maybe Lanier should start doing this.

Don"t worry, The High Sheriff got his new lollypop today. Now if he can just get the new patroll cars, he won't have to sue the county.

Heard today that the Sheriff is planning to sue Lanier County if he does not get his two patrol cars. Looks like the lollypop was enough.

Also heard the the bid total for the two cars and his pick-up was over $100,000 dollars. Remember that is our tax dollars.

Have you seen the new ride the High Sheriff has. The old white one was in such bad shape that he gave it to his Chief Deputy. Was told the new ride cost $39,000 plus. Not bad for a poor county like Lanier. Does not need to sue, just order what you want when you want it. The Commissioners will fall for the bluff. After all it is just the taxpayers money. Enjoy your new ride.

It is time for the cowardly LANIER COUNTY COMMISSIONERS to call NORTON'S bluff. Survey the Lanier County line along Highwy 221 South. You won't have to worry about NORTON's sovereign power or his money spending. WHERE IS ALL THAT GRANT MONEY THAT HE SUPPOSEDLY HAS RECIEVED AND DRUG MONEY THAT WAS RECOVERED FROM DRUG ACTIVITY? I think a full scsle AUDIT is in line for the LANIER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE.

I agree, survey the county line and all will see what most of us already know. Talk about opening a can of worms, that will be interesting to see what takes place once the truth comes to light. And talk about an audit, it is past due.

I agree with you 100%. Guess they are pissed because he is an HONEST man and not a CORRUPT Sheriff as they are accustom to having. Norton has done a great job and should be commended for his hard work and dedication to his community.

"I just dont know" You know everyhting don't ya? You know all about the Lowndes County Sheriff's office, the Lanier County Sheriff's office, man you are in the loop. If you think Norton is a HONEST man you obviously do not know the meaning of that word or your are a crook just like him. Nothing was ever surveyed or mapped and proven by anyone about that border. The VDT went with the opinion of someone at RDC that Nick probably paid. Charles N. Norton is the worst excuse for a Sheriff that I have ever witnessed. That is jus my humble opinion.
