<quoted text>can't use jd's record as a VPD meter maid, that wouldn't be fair,so the only record i guess we could compare is if sheriff paulk was on sabbatical for 7 years, and jd ran the LCSO, i guess we should use that as time frame for comparison ? 2005 the was the highest crime rating lowndes county has ever experienced, even compared to todays crime rating with a larger population! and the 2005 budget was higher than it is now, also it was top heavy with deputies, look at the budgets for the travling dog show they put on, the ski trips?the wrecked vehicles, i guess your right, what's to debate? Prine is the man for the job...
2005 Was when hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. All of the southern states experienced higher crime rates as the local law enforcement agencies were sent for aid, leaving fewer in our area. Vehicle accidents are going to happen, plain and simple. Now we get to the "Traveling Dog Show". I see nothing wrong with competition and obtaining recognition. It gives your employees something to be proud of (which makes for a better employee). Also, it gives the citizens a sense of pride in their local law enforcement. Lets compare it to our "Title town" status. I am sure I said "Our status in our local football programs are worthless and a waste of time. We should do away with sports and focus our money on books and better education". My statement may be valid, however would it be worth the loss of the morale to do such a thing? no. Bottom line is, these competitions offered self empowerment and better performing officers to people who perform a job with no expectation of congratulatory praise.

In closing, it would not be a successful Topix post unless I offend anyone, so here it goes. "2much crap", I honestly believe that you are currently an employee of the Sheriff's Office and are one of those who have never really excelled in anything. So you direct your frustration upon those who you believe have cheated you from being in the limelight. Of course you will have benefit of anonymity, and I expect you fire back, as you do so well, but I believe I have hit the nail on the head and take great satisfaction in knowing that I raised your blood pressure a few points. Have a nice day, and I anxiously await another rage-filled, failed attempt to defend your disjunctive views on the issue.

smitty, if you found rage in my compareison, it is you sir that is taken it out of text, and the only thing that matters is the facts about the crime rateing and the budgets, and they stand true to the facts, but i guess you have a excuse for everything much like obama and altitude sickness, warmest regards, you have a nice day...

Crime did soar in 05 and it was JD's fault cause he took his pet drug squad friends and disabled Tommy Crews to New Orleans to work and they all was making fed overtime pay while supposedly working but most were partying it up and double dipping workng as securty guards from rivate employers while there, how might I know? My ex was one of JD's puppets so I know first hand. They were only needed he first 2 weeks and were released by the FEMA and the Sheriff over there but JD let them stay a few months to make big money while the citizens here suffered with higher crime, although im not married to him anymore I know this to be the truth along with other things they did during JD's hay day that would blow your mind and disgust you. Im not by any means trying to bash or belittle JD but merely stating that he can not be trusted with such a high position because he does not have that type of experience or training as he implies. I also know that JD has not comanded every section of the Sherifff' Department hashe has stated. My EX worked in drug squad and JD did run it for a short time, he never worked for or over the courts, jail, patrol deputys , detectives or school and dare deputies. As far as I know he only worked on the interstate and made a few arrest a couple money seizeures. So based on what I know of past performance and ability I will encourage everyone to keep and support the current Sheriff in Office, from what I have heard and seen he has done a good job and worthy of my vote on Nov 6th

I guess we are discussing budget expenditures now. So, may I point out that Sheriff’s Office property is paid for by the tax payers. The property is managed by whoever is in the position of Lowndes County Sheriff. So, I noticed Chris placed his name on several pieces of Sheriff’s Office equipment. My question is was this to feed his ego, or to assist in his campaign efforts? Either one of those are wrong and the expense should not have been billed to the tax payers. Not only is this a waste of tax payers’ money to put on, it is a waste to take off. Let’s assume Chris wins another term, then the stickers stay on for another 4 years. Anyone who knows anything about property knows the stickers now leave marks when taken off. So now the next Sheriff will not only have to take them off but pay to fix damaged equipment. Way to go, a complete waste of tax payer’s money.

It is very common for sheriffs to put their name on cars, equipment etc. Tift county, and several other agencies do it. Oh yeah, Ashley Paulk did it! Don't think a minute JD wouldn't do the same thing, and would be well within his right to do so. Just like Prine! Do your research and come up with something better.

I keep hearing about re-painting some of the equipment with Sheriff Prine's name, but what about the entire Sheriff's Department getting new uniforms which cost taxpayers a TON of money (ostensibly because they looked too much like VPD). This was a few years BEFORE Prine was Sheriff. And what about J.D. and Ashley spending as much money as they could after the primary but before Prine took office so that he would be as hamstrung as possible until Ashley got ahold of the purse strings. J.D. Yeager has an ego that is beyond huge and he always has (you know, since way back when he was known as Jimmy Don). There are so many people in this town who would vote for a turnip before they would vote for J.D. Yeager. Oh and count me as a Republican Primary voter who did NOT vote for Yeager in the primaries and who will vote for Sheriff Prine Nov. 6.

If you will look at the county work release trailer, the boat, and now I hear the cars are next. Actually it is only common when those who feel inadequate at their job security. Ride around and you will see most places only put the county on the car, which makes sense. You are right under JD they replaced the uniforms to a dark blue/Black, so you are saying it was a waste of tax payer? Well 6 months later Chris wasted money again and replaced the uniforms to the current security guard brown. So, I guess it was ok for Chris to change them but not the Ashley administration?

You have no ideal what you are talking about, K-9 was self supported going to the Nationals. But you are one of these people who has no concept of the value of a good K-9. For instance what about the thousands of children who were able to pet and play with these dogs and the valuable community relations the Sheriff's Office gained by the K-9 Division and it's role in bringing another title to Title Town. You call it competition it was merely training with incentive something you know nothing about. The Trials closed the gap between the Community and Law Enforcement Officers, the community were able to see first hand what there Sheriff Office was capable of. A lot of you don't know this but Chris did not show up for any of the trials or the presentation of his deputies receiving the honors of there place in Lowndes County history. I would challenge you to try to pass U.S.P.C A. standards they are the best in the country. It i9s training with an incentive I will leave you with that. I know you are going to come up with something negative but it only shows your lack of knowledge.
