Good for you, BeesKnees!

People are quick to judge everyone and lump them into one category. I work with a lot of young mothers who receive grants and can get tax credits (AOC, LLC) and are trying to better themselves.

Not everyone who receives help and tax credits use them for tattoos and such. While I don't appreciate tax money going towards irresponsible people, it's not right to judge. God will judge those who lie and cheat and steal. If you see someone abusing government help, report them instead of complaining.

<quoted text>Pamela I agree. I am a prime example of this. I went to college for my Associates Degree in Nursing on a Pell Grant. I had two small children. My husband worked but yet I qualified for the grant. I graduated in 1998. In 2006 I wanted to go on further. I now owe quite the pretty penny in student loans that were used to get my BSN from Lees-Mcrae. No one should ever feel degraded for doing something to better themselves and their children. Like everything else, I am sure the grant system gets abused but don't label everyone who has ever used it..
You are a good example of how the programs should work but often the programs are abused. I know several people that have attended community colleges only for the purpose of extending unemployment benefits and know several that have totally abused the student loan programs borrowing $1,000's more per semester using the money as income, realizing that as long as they continue the education, the loan repayment is delayed. It not only drains the programs of funds it also makes it harder for those with good intentions like yourself to qualify for truly needed assistance.

I am so glad that I along with other people helped you through school. But the problem I have is that since I decided to get my education first instead of having kids, I didn't get the hand outs. I worked and took out loans. But since some people like to have kids and then go back to school lets just give them a handout. I think that everybody should be helped or nobody at all. I struggled to work and get my nursing degree so why shouldn't you of had to do the same.I am not rich or anything either so I don't think it is fair just cause I didn't get pregnant I didn't need help too. I was working to send myself and you thru school. So happy to help you!!!!

There's and easier way. Find a quack Doctor and get him to sign off on Disability. Worked for me!
I lost my job so now I get to stay home and get monthly disability checks. I get to go fishing and hunting when I want. Sleep in late, take afternoon naps and run my ebay business on the side. You people are stupid going to work every day when you can stay home.

You keep voting for it! Why should I not take advantage of it? Donít blame me for using the system the people of the United States voted for.

8 Years of Bill Clinton, 8 years of George Bush another 8 years of Obama and the money keeps rolling in. Iím riding this gravy train as long as it lasts and since there are more people like me than working stiffs we can keep voting ourselves money. Iíll be drawing social security from retirement after the disability runs out. Iím covered for the next 30 years. You just keep working and paying those taxes and social security.
I'm going to lay back and enjoy life!

I guess we are all just forever indebted to you then? Hardly. I feel sure that in my fifteen years of being in the work force full time I have probably sent a few people to school too. And that is awesome.. I am all for people doing what they can to help themselves and their children. I am working and paying for student loans myself. Don't make it sound like I just sat back and let you take care of me while I coasted through nursing school. I worked my rear end off to get through school and I don't feel like I owe you a single thing. Not a penny. YOU are no better than me for getting your education before having a family. I can't stand people who look down their noses at others. Get off your pedestal. I really don't think people just sit around and say "Hmmm I think I'll have a couple of babies so that I can get a Pell Grant that might or might not over my school expenses and just roll in the dough." What planet are you from?

And furthermore, if anyone paid my way through school, I would guess it was also my husband who worked every single day so that I could go to school. I don't see that as a handout. Thanks.

So I guess to you it is ok that you did have children before you decided to go to school, that other tax payers should just help you. I think that its good you went back but you should of had to pay yourself to do it. Maybe your husband could work 2 jobs till you got out of school. It's not anybody's fault that you made those choices and you should of been woman enough to fix it yourself. That is what is wrong with the world now, everybody wants a handout when the decide to do better in life. STAND ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET AND GROW UP!!! THE WORLD DON'T OWE YOU CRAP!!!!!

I have been on my own two feet and will continue to be because of my education. You seem like a bitter wretch. Most nurses are caring. You are probably a wanna be. I can't see you being the nurturing type. I have never said the world owed me anything but I have worked hard to get where I am and I do not need or want your opinion. End of story. You are not going to fix the world's problems by ranting. Get over it. You have tunnel vision. Can you not look at it outside of the box? Would you rather people not utilize programs designed to help people to better themselves vs those who depend on the welfare system to make ends meet? OH that's right.. work two or three jobs.. Where do you see jobs these days? Do you watch the news?

Don't cry cause you aren't as much woman as I am. And by the way I am a good nurse. I take real good care of my pt. So since you are working now I guess you are such a great person. I just don't like working to send other people to school. I need to send my children that I have now to school. WITHOUT YOUR TAX DOLLARS!!

And by the way why should the goverment decide to give what I had to work for to you just because you had kids. Call it what you may but you are a charity case that someone had to help. Someone that instead of working to send herself thru school thinks its ok that everybody else pay for it. I'm not rich by all means but I get punished cause I didn't have kids. I am very proud that I PAID for my education. Alot of people work their way thru college and I can say that they feel like I do. END OF STORY!!!!

Good grief, people.
If someone sits back and gets financial help, they're a parasite and lazy and moochers.
But if someone is actually TRYING to get on their feet and going to school, they're still a lazy, mooching, parasite?
GET REAL.
I am so tired of these friggen conservatives WHINING about their tax dollars helping a mother get through school! It makes ME want to quit my TWO jobs AND quit going to school just so I can sit on my ass and take your damned money out of spite!
SHUT UP - WE ALL WORK AND PAY TAXES. Instead of being stingy, whining jack@sses, try being happy that some people actually use that help to make something of their lives so they don't HAVE to rely on help!
Friggen Bible Belt retards.
