A few nights ago, my wife and I stopped by FoodLion to pick up a few items. She was in the checkout line with two white males, badgering her at the register. They werem aking vulgar and rude comments. Both were obviously drunk as ascertained by my wife and the cashier--staggering and could barely stand up. And yet, they were still buying more beer. And yet, there's no law that I know of that prevents people from buying more alcohol when they are clearly too intoxicated to drive. Even your local hole-in-the-wall bar or pub will cut you off if it appears you've had too much.

And I'm still waiting for all the great and wonderful business we were promised to surely flood the streets of Valdese if the vote passed.

Just a thought, why don't we work on attracting industries and other outlets that will appeal to the citizens of Valdese that are of genuine worth and have some form of relevence. As it stands, all we have is getting drunk, or going downtown to listen to Bluegrass bands.

I mean not to offend anyone who likes Bluegrass, or anyone of a more mature age.

But there are other generations to think about. Even those that will follow mine.

Is getting drunk really the only thing we have as a town to pass on to them?

Think about it??
you got it

And we wonder why no one stays in Valdese. We give them rocks when they're looking for Rubies.

I would surely hate to admit that I was such a coward that I would allow two drunken men who could barely stand insult my wife and another lady while in my presence. There are laws that protect citizens from people in public while intoxicated. Were you trembling so much that you couldn't dial 911? Maybe you should stay in morganton where the alcohol is served on the courthouse lawn and leave our alcohol free concerts to the more mature audience who is not afraid to stand up for their wives unless it is behind the closed doors and safety of their home.

Maybe I should have clarified, she didn't tell me what had happened until I got home for the simple fact that she knew what I would have done. When I went back to the store those men had left.

But by attacking my manhood you showed your true colors were completely oblivious to my main point.

Why do you take such an offense to an anonymous post. Listen, I could care less whether you think I'm the next Mike Tyson or not, my point which went completely over your head, was that valdese has nothing to offer other than letting people get drunk.

I'm assuming by your earlier comments that you have no kids or these points would have given you a modicum,(do you know what that word means?) of concern.

I was waiting in the car with the kids, if that makes it easier for you to comprehend.

You have no idea what my true colors are. I do not drink nor do I condone anyone who displays their drunkedness in public. However, I do not condemn an entire town or their concerts for the actions of one or two people. Your comments which envolve an entire town which had entirely nothing to do with these two men and your wifes encounter with them along with her reluctance to tell you about her ordeal says all we need to know about your modicum of manhood.

Mey , you have changed this story and backpedalled numerous times now . if you went back to the store after getting home to confront a few drunk guys that was " At the register checking out " before you even left the parking lot in the first place, you either figured they was long gone or Looking for trouble OR just lying about most or all of this whole story in the first place . Either way we're all wasting our time typing about something that happens everyday in every town . Its not just valdese . These guys could have been high on crack or huffing gas or a million other things . Beer is sold in every town man get over it . And for your information i have one small child , I would handle that sh*t quickly and certainly wouldn't blame the town of valdese for selling alcohol get real

The only way Valdese will be saved is open a medicalmarijuana store. City council??Decisions?? Close it till it rains, then call it off..Poor excuse for a town. Waldesian bread sucks too, if thats what myras serves.
