Questions about Wilson's Creek hiking or camping

I want to hike some trails around Wilson's Creek but I don't know anything about that area. What is a good beginner trail that is well marked? I am afraid of getting lost. Also, I have a pop up camper. Is there a place around Wilson's Creek that is family oriented where I can rent a camping spot? Any tips on fun or interesting things to see around WC? Any help is appreciated.

Below is a link to a pretty good map for hiking trails in that area. I highly recommend you stop in at the Wilson Creek Visitors Center. You can usually get a good map if they're not sold out. The folks that staff the Visitors Center are great people and they have good info about where to hike, park, and camp.
As for a good trail... I suggest you do the Harper Creek Falls trail. It has a parking area not too far past the Visitors Center. It's a good idea to get to the parking area no later than mid-morning simce it fills up fast on weekends.
There are numerous other trails but this one is good for your first one and you don't have to drive forever to get to it. It takes you to a nice waterfall and the trail forks so you can see it from above as well as the bottom. At the bottom you can get in the water too and cool off. be careful and don't take shortcuts!! A lot of people get hurt there doing that. Not worth it!
You can get a nice camping spot up just a little further past the Harper Creek trail. You can see it on the map. It's called Mortimer Campground. Nice place and they have a box at the entrance where you fill out your info and put the money in a box there for your site.
At the very back end of the campground there is another nice trail you can walk. It's not marked on this map but I've walked it a couple of times. It's pretty long so be sure to allow a few hours to do it. It circles back to the campground and comes back in roughly in the middle of the campground. At the beginning, at the back of the campground, you'll come up on a neat little waterfall right off the bat too.
You can do a google search for Wilson Creek Visitor Center and Wilson Creek hiking and get lots more info as well. Good luck, have fun, and I hope this helps!
Here's a link to the search I did on google
