Alleged child rapist in custody

A 27-year-old Burke County man was charged this week with raping a child. Randal Eugene Powell , of 4871 John Berry Road, Valdese was arrested at his home Thursday afternoon and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety's website.
